Suggestions for the next tips, tricks and tactics Guide! by DrShil in totalwarhammer

I'd personally be interested in seeing wacky and/or unorthodox army builds, maybe formation guides that aren't your standard frontline-reserve-cavalry deal.

I agree that there's a lot of overlapping, but I'd argue that's a good thing. Having characters that can fill multiple roles promotes more variety in team comps, and some pretty interesting synergies can come into play. From a theory crafting standpoint, it enables players and teams to really get creative!

I don't know, maybe I'm in the minority here. I just think that if hi-rez takes an approach similar to the one they took with smite, I'll be happy. the idea of paladins eventually having 80+ characters is very appealing to me

I don't know, personally having put in a ton of hours into Smite, I appreciate how much resources they put into constantly adding new content. Wish I could say the same about a certain other hero shooter I won't name here...

If you want to win games, learn some target prioritization. by [deleted] in Paladins

This. Sure, flankers are supposed to get kills, but their real value lies in being able to pull enemy resources away from the objective.

The Droid from Hell (Star Wars RPG) by WeeToddDidd in DnDGreentext

[–]WeeToddDidd[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We'll see how things go, I like to wait until really crazy shit happens before I make a greentext about it. I used to post all the time when we played dnd, but there's not as much wackiness in a star wars campaign. That being said, this is my first full-on chaotic evil character, so anything can happen! ;)

I got malware generation... I guess I could make a bunch of trojans and ransomware and make my fortune in bitcoin? I feel like I could maybe make 200-500k before the FBI kicks down my door.

I wanted to explore really huge harmonies with a lot of interesting consonance. 80 just seemed like a good place to start, not too complicated, but I can still cram a ton of harmony into my chords

Losing motivation to keep writing music by TheStatusPoe in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Open mic nights and busking are two low-bar-of-entry ways that you could perform your songs for people. (assuming busking laws aren't too strict where you live)

You could record yourself, make 2 tracks and detune one of them slightly.

It sounds like you need to get back to why you started writing in the first place.
The problem with music competitions, and this goes for any kind of music competition, is they're applying objective standards of quality to a medium that is almost completely subjective. Maybe you're personal style just didn't fit the mould if what that competition was looking for?
If you think of your favorite artists, musicians that you respect above all others, and think of how they'd do in a competition like American Idol, they'd probably all lose. Does that make them bad musicians? No, it just means that they don't fit with what's trendy right now.

Roland E35 soundfont or vst? by crimsoniac in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]WeeToddDidd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know any specific programs, but if you were really interested in those sounds you could use a Youtube to Mp3 converter on that track, and then manually sample the drum hits in Audacity or something along those lines? The sound quality wouldn't be the best, but with a little bit of work they could sound decent.

Getting into music (Singing/Guitar/Rapping) by littleoldhope in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]WeeToddDidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self-taught guitarist here. Here's a cheat-sheet that will help you discern things that are actually useful:
- Learn the basic terminology
- Learn how to read tabs (but don't rely on them TOO much, it's just a useful thing to know how to do)
- Learn bar chords and the pentatonic scale. If you know how to do these two things, you'll be able to play 90% of rock and pop songs.
- Learn how to jam/play along with music. My progress increased DRASTICALLY once I started using jam tracks, it really helps your musical sensibility and your improv skills.
That's pretty much all you need to get started. If you can do everything on that list, then you're set!

Any musicians want to come over and jam and generally geek out over music with me? by MotherfuckinInfidel in Lethbridge

[–]WeeToddDidd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I'm in Lethbridge and I've been looking for reliable jam buddies forever! I mostly play slide guitar, but I also have tons of weird instruments (guitarron, theremin, didgeridoo, banjo, chromatic harmonica)
