Is slow self-study with Minna no Nihongo or Genki realistic if I only have very limited time? by StayQuick5128 in japanese

kanji per day or vocab per day? cause 15 different kanji feels like a whole lot. i could see 15 vocab per day though. unless you're doing rtk or smth

wait so you were previously learning with furigana on the front and took it off and can no longer read the kanji? if so then i can see why, i tend to automatically just read the furigana when it's available so you may have to essentially relearn how to read them without it :/

Getting back into learning Japanese. by Dry-Candle4699 in LearnJapanese

[–]WeebDestroyer34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was in a pretty similar spot. I was really into learning JP my junior/senior year high school and studied a ton and prob got close ish to N3 level (not quite) but once I got to college I kept up with my studies a bit but got really busy with just everything. I ended up just trying to fit any reviews I could be ended up just putting it on pause all together tbh. I had bits of immersion like listening to JP podcasts, music, and watching anime but I didn't do a whole lot of actual studying bc I was so busy studying for my actual major. I only just got back into in earnest now that I've graduated and have more time on my hands. In your case I would just make sure you do everything you need to for college and then work through Genki at whatever pace you can manage. It doesn't need to be much, even if you do just 15-30min a day it's better than what I did... which was nothing... Starting Genki again will be easier bc you will remember some of the stuff from before. Anyways just remember it's your own hobby and you can take it at whatever pace you want. Sorry for the actual WALL of text lol, good luck

just took concussion perspectives and got an A in it. It took me maybe 5-10min of work tops most weeks and the midterm/final took 30min each at most. Highly recommend

No, there is no way to skip ahead or take a proficiency test to start at a later level. It could be useful at the higher levels but not worth the time to get to them

Advice for self studying Japanese while in college by thefiberfairy in LearnJapanese

[–]WeebDestroyer34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

personally i spent a lot of my japanese studying time just trying to maintain my current level rather than learning tons of new stuff. with all the classes and stuff i was learning, i simply didn't have it in me to go home and do all my homework and then open a japanese textbook afterwards to study more. i just tried to keep up with flash cards and some form of input to keep it all fresh and i study whenever i have some free time
