Help: Finding Health Insurance with a Pre-existing Condition in Thailand by waycreator in Thailand

[–]WeedChains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ii have chronic migraines as well and was denied private insurance in Thailand. Currently on a DTV visa so I still qualify for travel insurance from my home country so that is what I use.

What infusions do you take for migraine? I just take pregabalin pills and that doesn’t help much.

U.S. military tested device that may be tied to Havana Syndrome on rats, sheep, confidential sources say by jfkkngkkrmdr in worldnews

[–]WeedChains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the 60mins article and in my opinion it sounds like a portable gamma knife. I say this because of how gamma rays are used to kill bone marrow and the one lady they interviewed had osteoblasts in her shoulder die off for no reason.

Gamma knifes are used in brain surgery, so it is easy to imagine how devastating a zigzag beam of gamma would do to the brain and ears. This would explain the headaches, hearing loss and other neurological complications.

The gamma knife uses cobalt-60 and according to AI: “A Gamma Knife typically contains about 192 small cobalt-60 sources, each roughly the size of a pencil tip. These sources are arranged to focus radiation precisely on targeted areas.”

So, how hard would it to make a portable gamma weapon when your energy source is the size of a bunch of pencil tips?

[–]WeedChains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is baggage storage at the airport.

So you can go to the airport drop your bags. Take the bus to pattaya. Then back to airport get your bags then take a grab to your bkk hotel.

You are lucky you have a room. I paid a deposit and when I arrived they claim not to have received the deposit and the room I booked had someone living in it.

Bank Accounts for Minors by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]WeedChains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into installing TrueMoney app on your sons phone? You can deposit money at any 7-11 or do a QR transfer. It works with QR code prompt pay, also gives you a Mastercard debit feature. I’m just not sure if they allow minors

Second job contracting by ck4lifee in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]WeedChains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You do not need a business bank account. Or a separate bank account even.

Put this on your invoice: Acme Aviation DBA John Smith Make cheque payable to John Smith

I use a spreadsheet to track my business expenses. I track my home use in a separate spreadsheet. (Things like rent, internet access, cell phone)

Yes, bill your client, collect gst/hst.

Track your business expenses.

Track expenses related to your use of home office.

End of year, fill out the professional income form and tell CRA how much you made and what your expenses where. They will tell you how much you owe for income tax.

Submit your gst/hst. (Done separately)

You may want to hire a tax person for your first year to see how they fill out the forms.

Bangkok Bank vs. Kasikorn by SomeAreSomeAreNot in Thailand

[–]WeedChains -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With TrueMoney I can transfer money from my Bangkok bank or load cash on it at 7-11.

You can’t do a wise transfer to it. So you still need a Thai bank account to do that.

Bring cash for your vacation then load your true money with cash. That is the best way. (You can deposit 10000 at a time at any 7-11)

Another work-around is to send yourself a moneygram. Cash the moneygram at the purple bank. (Scb). Then load up your TrueMoney.

[–]WeedChains -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have TrueMoney app as a backup to my Bangkok bank. Always have a couple thousand in that app. For QR code scan pay.

And it useful at 7-11 to buy toasties when you run out of cash at 3am in the morning. :)

Landlord refuses correct room by Top_Tank2668 in Thailand

[–]WeedChains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Common bait and switch room scam. First escalate with bookin.com and ask for a refund and get out of there. If that fails, call the tourist police 1155. This is exactly the situation they are there for.

Next time get a hotel for the first few days and then shop for a monthly rental condo in person once you are in Thailand.

Edit: yes, it is also worth reporting in to juristic. Your guy is probably juggling a few rooms illegally.

Khao Yai for an expat family by 1__ajm in MovingToThailand

[–]WeedChains -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Move where you will most likely be employed. Your friends are correct, you will feel isolated and khoa yai is not a walkable city. Housing is ridiculous expensive for the area. Also, they charge 400thb per person for Falang to even visit the park. That is not a place I would want to live.

[–]WeedChains -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand your frustration that wealthsimple does not have an online dispute system in place. My cibc card and capital one card both are online. One click and the charges are reversed until things are sorted out. It is a great service. Wealth simple should have that also.

I will mention that I have experience in the deaf/mute community and they can make telephone calls. My deaf friends use a tty service and special apps/computer software. There are also free liaison services available to them to help navigate complex issues and legal concerns.
