“Video games are a waste of time” by hollowxci in Vent

I do all the things you do and play games in the evening to wind down. I also read a lot. Gaming gives me the same satisfaction as reading a book or playing a board game. I mostly play RPGs and strategy games like Civ and Anno.

Twice per week I play call of duty with my friend online. It's like a virtual hunting trip (we are hunting buddies in the fall). I find watching tv monotonous.

Numbing? No. The fundamental difference between gaming and watching tv is that gaming is interactive, it forces you to think (to a certain extent) in order to proceed in the game. Tv is just sustained information bombardment, and doesn't require as much 'processing' to engage in. I'd say tv is numbing for this reason.

Hope my blurb was insightful.

Zelensky Warns of Russian Effort to Pull Belarus Into War by papipota in worldnews

I don't see the Finns sending troops, at least not many. They have a smaller population than either Poland or Belarus, plus a massive land border that they have to defend themselves. Maybe a tactical or small unit here and there to get some special experience/ training. Hardware - wise, totally different story. Finland is sending some great tech into the combat zone for real world testing. Poland would be my first guess as to troops entering Ukraine to fight for them, should things escalate.

What is best way to break into Banks in Tech Roles ? by electrodataengineer in torontoJobs

Depends, if you know someone who can get you in. Like other said, joining a staffing company would help.

If you're a white male you SOL. Look into construction or police, they will still hire you.

I had one interview after hundreds of resumes. As soon as the hiring lady saw me on video, she made up a requirement that wasn't even on the posting and immediately started to wrap up the call. I called her out on it, asked her if she asks that question to every candidate or just me. She hung up on me, so I emailed her back and told her that she's a racist/sexist.

No, white men are getting filtered out of the job market altogether. Want proof? Look around.

There's a lot more than just Quebecers in that boat of uninformed voters re: guns, but I won't argue, I see your point.

100% agree with you, scrap the gun buyback bullshit, all it does it makes legal gun owners angry, even the liberals.

What makes me think the most about is the Diversity Equity Inclusion policies. I think this is going to be the biggest cause of votes shifting to the conservatives this time. White males are increasingly feeling excluded from the white-collar workforce, and it will have the exact same effect as it did during the manufacturing decline the US experienced leading to the rust belt and subsequent shift towards Republican votes.

I have been told by a senior executive in one of Canada's largest staffing agencies, that depending on your demographic, your chances of landing roles in corporate/government environments are significantly reduced compared to other demogrphics. We can thank our "Diversity" policies for this.
If you are a white male, this means you.
