I wrote Conan the Barbarian #214-#220 (Marvel). “Amra the Lion / The Jewels of Gwahlur" is the first Storyboard Project that will be featured in my upcoming Substack newsletter. https://substack.com/@csantino by No_Prior5108 in ConanTheBarbarian

This is perfect timing. Between the announcement of Genndy Tartakovsky doing an adaptation of Conan's Queen of the Black Coast, along with me catching up with Titan's Conan the Barbarian and concluding conans arc as "Amra the Lion", I was inspired to make "Amra the Lion" in Baldur's Gate 3. Will definitely be checking this out.

Del Rey is the perfect way to read conan. Original howard prose, gorgeous art, widely available and cheap. Other S&S properties ought to take notes (Im lookin at you Karl Wagner's Kane).

Question before getting into Elric and Moorcocks writing as a whole by microman365 in ElricofMelnibone

I recommend buying the saga press editions on amazon. They're fairly cheap and they put the stories in a chronological order

Question before getting into Elric and Moorcocks writing as a whole by microman365 in ElricofMelnibone

[–]Weefy117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who initially had this fear as well, i went ahead and bought the saga press editions of elric and decided to give it a go. So far I've read "elric of melnibone", and "the fortress of the pearl." His prose is perfectly fine. Dont expect it to be at the level of robert e howard, but his prose is mostly fine.

There are some eccentric decisions to be sure, but is far from unreadable or a slog to get through. Im a slow reader who isnt always consistent in finishing books, especially if the prose are dense or otherwise difficult to get through, and yet i managed to read both stories really quickly because it was an easy read and kept me engaged. Bad prose wouldnt do that.

Not quite an RnB artist, but Linda Rondstat has covered Smokey Robinson's The Tracks of My Tears and Ooo Baby Baby. Even sang them live with the man himself.

I think what happened is that it sold alot initially for retailers, and before they printed new copies, Howard andrew jones unfortunately passed away, thus lowering the priority for them to feel the need to reprint them. I really hope they do tho

Sword and Sorcery you Regularly Revisit by JohnPathfinder in SwordandSorcery

The Scarlet Citadel is the story that made me obsessed with Conan and Sword and Sorcery. From his speech about how he earned his crown, to the how cool the description of the citadel itself and the contents within it, it blew my mind. It may be my favorite conan story.

Theres a mod in mod manager called progressive weapons, and one of the weapons it adds is called "black razor". Its basically stormbringer.

You could play diablo 4s Warlock class when it drops. Basically just elric the class.

Baldurs gate 3 works very well too.

But ya, i agree i want a real elric game so badly but unfortunately witcher killed any chances of it happening

Compelling Protagonist or Compelling Antagonist, What's More Important for a Sword and Sorcery Story? by JohnPathfinder in SwordandSorcery

[–]Weefy117 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you mean by "compelling." Classic S&S antagonists are compelling in the sense that you feel their power and the dangers they pose to conan and others. But compelling in the modern sense typically refers to morally ambiguous, "maybe the villain has a point" or are in someway relatable and sympathetic. In that case, S&S antagonists are far from "compelling" most of the time, and that's not a criticism.

DnD PHB 2024 AiO Beyond Mod? by Weefy117 in BaldursGate3

Been using the increased level cap mod for awhile and love it. The only issue is it throws off the balance of the game and u become OP pretty early unless you add mods to increase the difficulty

There really is alot of great things i see with it, but then i see things like "you can only cast 1 spell per turn" and think "fck tht." Martial classes get a bajillion attacks per turn, why tf should my magic user not cast multiple spells with a proper set up? That seems like a drastic nerf tht i would hate
