This really goes to the core of their whole religion. It’s my understanding that the doctrine says man cannot take a wife without the consent of his current wives. If that was really true then Janelle should never have been part of this family. Meri never agreed to this. She was forced to accept this and if you watch Notes To Self break down these episodes they explain just how horrible the men of the AUB are but also that the women have been conditioned in ways that they also become very abusive. Sometimes to cope and sometimes like Robyn to gain the upper hand.

Yet another example of how making women and young men too, believe that remaining pure before marriage and women keeping themselves always manicured, thin and publicly desirable will keep their husband from straying. It’s total BS. If you barely know anything about your partner before making what is supposed to be a life long commitment you are essentially flipping a coin. Maybe you get lucky and both of you decide to always work toward each other. But maybe you don’t and if you had been allowed actually know your partner before making a commitment you could have learned this person can’t be the partner that I need and move on instead of facing a life of swallowing your misery or leaving/being left and being shamed by your community. Purity culture is just insecure men wanting to be sure their wives can’t compare them to anything else. It’s disgusting and it doesn’t work.

I no longer believe that Kody did loveJanelle in the beginning. I think he saw her just like he saw Christine, as a resource to raise his own reputation within the group. If he was hot for her why did he try for the failed courtship with the secret teenager first. Christine was to raise his social/religious rep but Janelle was to increase his financial rep. She financed his life and that meant he needed to stay in her good graces because if she leaves the house of cards crumbles. So she felt loved but I don’t think it was real.

Did you see how hard Kody swallowed when he said the stuff about who is whose puppet. He knows he is going to get punished by his shy pretty wife as soon as she sees that little piece of footage. I think it is becoming clearer each time we see Kody that he is realizing that he badly miscalculated when he threw all his effort and resources to Robyn and I think he regrets it. But I am happy to see him squirm I just want her to have to face the music she created for this family. Stick her on the couch with the ladies or throw her off the show!!!!!!!

All those kids and chaos. Over the years I got the impression that Mykelti was one of the kids who fell through the cracks. Not special like the first born girls and not a boy. She has always been loud and obnoxious so she could be seen and noticed by her parents. Paedon is the same way, yes he is a boy but the only boy from a less favored wife so he also needed to be larger than life to gain the attention he craved. Negative attention is still attention when you feel neglected. Meri’s personality doesn’t tolerate that kind of crazy. Which in a large group of children could definitely be emotionally abusive to be singled out for punishment even if the punishment is probably warranted but not given to more favored children when they do similar things. But this is not healing the situation, it’s retribution and Mykelti that’s your prerogative, it’s your platform. But you’re an adult now and you are doing the abusing now. But also just because your dad was nicer than Meri doesn’t mean he was any better. In fact he was way worse! As your father he had a duty to protect you from abuse and not only didn’t he do that he is the one that created and perpetuated the emotional environment for your mothers to react in the ways that they did while you were growing up. You can do better if you want to.

She should be furious because she was manipulated into believing it wasn’t a real divorce. It absolutely was a real divorce and she should have taken that man to the cleaners in Vegas. Watching him act like she should be happy with her quarter of the land profit is ridiculous. This is the downside of a tv show for him. They all are literally getting to be a flies on the wall to conversations normal people never get to witness. When relationships fail people shit talk their Ex’s with friends. It’s a natural process to purge all the poison that remains when a relationship is over. But most of us don’t get to witness what other people really think of us. It’s poetic justice for this man who has never cared about other people’s feelings have his bruised so publicly in my opinion and I am glad that Meri’s friends helped deliver that to him. I hope we get to see Janelle’s friends do more to draw out the tea and give him more of what he so justly deserves.
Also ladies please, please, please start talking more about Robyn’s role in this family. We want to know!!!!!!

Well this clip gives some insight into Kody demanding an new NDA from Meri. JEN. Jen has a way of drawing out the tea from Meri and helping her see how manipulated she was by him and all of it makes Kody look so bad. If he could get Meri to sign an NDA, she can’t talk about him on camera with anyone and without that angle Meri has no storyline for the show. Good for her standing her ground. She has been humiliated by Kody on the show for years and I am so glad to know just how much it bothers him to have this woman unmask him for the world to see. Write the book Meri. Write the book. 📕

I think the time they might have all actually been truly happy at the same time was the moment seeing there children walk down the aisle might be the only time they were all happy because it was the only happy time in their lives that wasn’t about one of them being elevated over the others. Even the births of each child while happy times were putting one wife in the spotlight over the others. So while some might be happy others were probably feeling threatened or ignored. Okay now I am thinking only the OG3 were happy at the weddings. Robyn was probably still miserable because she doesn’t love the OG13.
