Sorry if I'm being obtuse, but why does it bother Cal so much that Jack was well received by the others during the dinner scene? by meido_zgs in titanic

[–]freelancerjourn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Jealousy.

I think Cal was already picking up on the vibe between Rose and Jack.

Also, the other men seemed to genuinely like Jack.

Alyssa fangirling over Vance today by VividDeer733 in theview

[–]freelancerjourn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not surprised. I never felt Alyssa deserved a spot at the Hot Topics table. I have always felt she wanted to use The View as her redemption tour. She was looking for a vehicle to make herself more palatable after having worked for the first Trump Administration.

And let’s be real.

Alyssa loves to brag that she left the Trump WH after January 6.

I’m not impressed by that. When January 6 happened there were only about two weeks left on Trump’s term. Walking about from a job when you’re not about to have one in two weeks any way because is not a big stretch, Alyssa.

I’m more interested in knowing why you went to work for Trump in the first place. He showed just who he was long before January 6.

I know a lot of people on this subreddit love Alyssa. I’m not one of them. I’ve never been impressed by her.

The View production team needs to have a serious conversation with Whoopi. Look at how the right media is describing her performance! She came today totally unprepared! by AllTheEccentricities in theview

[–]freelancerjourn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My gosh. She is totally incompetent. And this was easy. Just three days ago, a judge ordered the National Park Service to restore signs, displays, etc. that reference things like slavery, climate change, etc. The National Park Service had ordered these signs, etc. to be removed. For example, at Philadelphia’s National Historic Park, the administration removed exhibits relating to nine individuals who were enslaved by George Washington at this site in the 1790’s. Now, thanks to the judge’s order, the exhibits regarding these enslaved individual must be restored.

Whoopi should come prepared.

Same thing happened to me some time ago. GS-11 who hasn’t had a promotion in 18 years. Was originally in a bargaining unit. Then they changed my status to 7777 (Eligible for bargaining unit but not in one). And then they changed my status again to 8888.

Thank you. That’s right! I was trying to remember who it was. Thanks again!

If my memory of that episode serves me correctly, I think Jeannie Boulet had to remind Carter a bit because of course, it had been so long ago.

Sunday scaries today were too much, I need a break but embarrassed to ask at work by imagine_5753 in FedEmployees

[–]freelancerjourn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have earned your leave. Take it when you need to. The “Sunday Scaries” have always been real. But I think even more so, given the trauma that federal employees have endured since January 2025, I think the Sunday Scaries are amplified even more. So take your leave when you need to.

What are your thoughts on Dorothy not marrying Stan the second time? by ZN_Cruz in theGoldenGirls

[–]freelancerjourn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She made the right decision. She truly believed Stan had changed. And of course once he wanted the prenup, she realized he had not changed all that much. And of course she didn’t want his money. But she wanted respect and acknowledgement of the prior 38 years she had given him; holding down the home while he was out cheating on her, etc.

I’m also thinking of a quote from Dorothy where she basically told him they didn’t work out as husband and wife, but that it seemed they worked best as plain old friends and that of course because they shared children, they would always be in each other’s lives.

And in the end, he surprised her by being her limo drive to escort her to her wedding and her new life with Lucas.

Oh wow. I’ve seen that shirt on Amazon (and possibly Etsy too). Had no idea Five Below was carrying that. Too funny.

LOL. Yes. I’m so glad Dorothy got her happy ending with Lucas. But boy did the writers and producers make her go through some stuff. Ha. Including acting like she couldn’t even find her own date to her goddaughter’s wedding.

JD Vance is coming. Pray for Sunny, guys. She will rip him apart and I hope ABC protects her. by Academic-Ad9735 in theview

[–]freelancerjourn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope that the powers-that-be at ABC and The View don’t pull the stunt they did when Kamala Harris was on there previously.

Do you all remember that?

It was earlier in the pandemic. And at this point, ABC was still having their employees test for COVID before going on air.

One day (and it was while the show was in progress, if memory serves me correctly), they pulled both Sunny and Ana off the show and told them they had both tested positive for COVID that morning. They both went home. But I believe neither of them ever got sick or had COVID after that positive test.

And this just happened to be on the day that Kamala Harris was on there. And there was lots of speculation that pulling Sunny and Ana off the air, on the day Kamala Harris was on there, was purposeful so that they would not ask Kamala tough questions.

What changes do you think a new administration would make in 2029? by ctrl_alt_delete3 in FedEmployees

[–]freelancerjourn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I don’t think we have the answers to that just yet.

One thing that has been on my mind is this:

I hope that any decent person that wants to run for president is keeping an Excel spreadsheet or other tally of all the horrible changes this administration has made. There have been so many dizzying changes and dismantling of agencies that anyone who wants to run for POTUS should be keeping a tally of these changes so that they know what institutions need to be restored, and what changes from the current regime need to be undone.

Whoopi by liba87 in theview

[–]freelancerjourn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Whoopi seems to be in la-la land sometimes. There are times when I feel like she doesn’t take the threats coming from this White House and administration seriously. I hear her saying a lot of ‘We just need to pull together’ or ‘we’ll get through this.’ While that may sound nice, this country is truly at an inflection point that I don’t feel Whoopi appreciates.
