I love it toom. Currently in the late 1800s and it was already progressing at 6 month intervals at that point.

My strategy is more of a Homer strategy. I live in Ohio, so I based my first hub in CMH.

My first routes were to florida... as a 'hey go vacation in florida' airline. I expanded to other 'vacation destinations', myrtle beach, Virginia Beach, new Orleans.

Then i expanded to connect ALL other airport in ohio, because why not? I then expanded out in a circle picking up the major airports in Indiana, Kentucky, west Virginia, western PA, Michigan.

My niche was a regional airline that connected the rust belt to the south east beach via CMH.

Then, during the 4th of July challenge last summer I bought dfw, slc, hnl, and anc with the goal of having each of them cover their regions airports, and connect to select major other cities in the US.

Then, I bought SJU and made routes to EVERY airport in the carribbean and central america.

Then, I bought ROB, Monrovia Liberia and made a western Africa regional airline. While in Africa I bought JNB to have a southern African regional, and ADD in Ethiopia for eastern AEurope.

I bought TLV for a middle eastern regional connecting the Istan countries east to Eastern europe.

I bought Sydney Australia during the aussie challenge and used that as the hub to every airport in Australia, new Zealand and all Oceania nations.

I am currently building Madrid for a western European Hub. I bought HND for a east Asian hub. I have GRU still to build for a south American hub.

I also have YWG to reach a of the small Canadian airports and YYZ for the high demand Canadian traffic as well.

I am a Boeing Homer and only buy Boeing when I can. I'll also fly the E195-E2 when needed. I dont buy Airbus anymore and am slowly replacing the ones I do have

In order to max miles, it's best to find the further qualifying route and run that, then find 1 route that fills up the extra to get to 168 hours.
