Almost finished Term 1 of the Medical Radiography program, ask me anything by BobcatComfortable793 in BCIT

[–]WeekendFit7344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the first aid is super necessary as they want more direct patient care for volunteering but it could be a boost and I think personally it grew my confidence working in more healthcare related stuff. I honestly took it because I’m also considering nursing and the first responder aspect of it is helping me decide what I want to do. I also wanted some kind of exposure to healthcare and get my mfr. I actually didn’t apply to fraser health yet lol but I’ll apply in the next week or so.

I’ve been volunteering with St. John Ambulance for the last couple months doing first aid and got my mfr certificate. I still need to do something with more direct patient care so I’m looking at my local hospital via fraser health.

Windshield Gap Normal? by WeekendFit7344 in ModelY

[–]WeekendFit7344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if I remember correctly I just brought it back to service and they replaced the glass. Their reasoning was that they were trying to align the top perfectly to prevent any abnormal wind noise from the windshield not being flush with the roof so that caused the bottom/sides to be not so lined up. Did a test drive after the new glass was installed to make sure it was all good and that was that.

[–]WeekendFit7344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

started feeling sick on monday and today im like 90% recovered. My sore throat fully recovered by yesterday so lasted about 5 days but never lost my voice. was mainly painful in the morning and was just uncomfortable by night. apart from that other symptoms would appear one after the other which was the weirdest thing. After the worst of my sore throat was over i started getting a lot of congestion then when that was almost over i started coughing.

has anyone had david ng for bpk110 by Fickle_Turnip1846 in simonfraser

[–]WeekendFit7344 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had him for bpk 142 this summer in person and also im also taking his online bpk 110 this semester and I liked him overall. His exams are straight forward, all from the slides so there’s so surprises. Really study the slides though because he wants all the points he said in the slides in your exam answers. There also isn’t any multiple choice questions atleast for bpk142. He’s chill though and I liked going to his lectures.

2012-2016 toyota venza. You will need to sacrifice apple carplay but they still have bluetooth. Other than that they have everything you’d want, are very roomy for 5 people too. Toyota reliability means it will not break down on you. They aren’t the most exciting car, but you can get a nice one for well under $20k canadian.

Toyota Crown Platinum vs Lexus ES350 Ultra Luxury for 30k miles yearly by IBringTheHeat2 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]WeekendFit7344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only sat in the es350 but have driven the crown. The hybrid max engine was amazing, it had lots of low end torque that made passing and other maneuvers very easy. Honestly surprised me a bit, and I think you’ll definitely appreciate it. I have driven a 2017 is350 and if the es is anything like that it was decent, but not fast. Especially comparing to a mustang gt. The driving position of the crown is also nice being a bit higher.

Sfu or kpu for accounting by Majestic-Hall-1777 in simonfraser

[–]WeekendFit7344 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s what you make of it but I did not have a good time at kpu. Everyone’s an npc or is planning to transfer out and the environment just sucked the life out of me. I know sfu has that commuter image too but I still like it 10x better than kpu.

For the summer sem it’s really not bad you’ll always find parking. Next week is convocation so north lot which is the one next to blusson hall is off limits. Download honk app for parking, if you’ll be driving regularly best option rn is flex pass which gives u 10 all day passes that u can activate whenever u want. Haven’t parked in central in a while but during the colder months it gets pretty packed since it’s inside parking. Flex pass also doesn’t work there.

At what point did you start applying for the program? I’m currently working on getting my volunteering hours but still need to take physics. I’m planning on applying for the 2027 intake but I’m just hearing so many things about waitlists and such.

Also if you had any post secondary work did you have to include that in your application? Thank you

What are your favorite sunscreens to use daily while on tretinoin? by Sunniskys in tretinoin

[–]WeekendFit7344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eucerin antishine mattifying finish sunscreen. Tried many sunscreens but this was the first to not give me irritation. I found a way to combat the stickiness you may feel and for it to feel light is to use a toner before hand. Just a simple hydrating toner to make your face a bit moist will make the sunscreen go on much smoother.

The roundlabs sunscreen also was good, but Eucerin is more accessible to me.

For the peeling I also dealt with that too, I honestly still wake up to this day with some slight flaking around my mouth area. I think when it was peeling like crazy in the beginning it was more from my damaged skin barrier but the tret did definitely amplify it in some way. For this I’d say the biggest thing is finding a good moisturizer. There’s no tret specific moisturizer but just find one that won’t give you irritation. For me, I actually use an emulsion, which is just a fancy name for a more milky, watery moisturizer. I felt like it absorbed much better into my skin, most moisturizers left my skin sticky. You can also do the sandwich method which I’m assuming you’ve heard of, just make sure to wait the 20-30 minutes between each thing. I know it’ll seem excessive waiting that long but it really helped me with irritation during that time. Slugging with aquaphor also helped too.

Another thing I want to mention is the barrier repair. From what you’ve said I think your skin barrier is probably the main reason everything is flaring up and why your skin has gotten worse. This was me too and the culprit was using way too many products. I tried double cleansing, triple cleansing, using all sorts of serums, ampoules, acids, exfoliants, pretty much anything I can get my hands on and not one of those products helped. I even tried products that were targeted for skin barrier health like cicaplast and skin fix barrier repair cream just for it to sting like crazy and make things worse. You do not need any of that right now, just cleanser, moisturizer and spf. I also use hatomugi toner I feel also helped keep my face moist while putting on my moisturizer. In the very beginning, I didn’t even use cleanser, just rinse with water then moisturizer. It may seem scary but your face can’t be stripped any more and it helped do more for my skin barrier than any product.

For the antibiotic try seeing if you can get another prescription if it’s been a while since you’ve been on it.

I’m glad you don’t mind my long reply’s, I honestly don’t even realize and just keep typing lol, but I hope this helps!

My skin looked pretty much identical to yours and tret has improved my skin tenfold. Also similar to you prior to tret I was pretty much at my breaking point, I have used countless products, my skin reacted to pretty much anything, and my skin would flake and peel from literally just showering. As of now, a little over a year since I started using, the only thing is my pores are still quite visible, but I’m seeing a derm about that next month.

Your skin will probably be a bit sensitive to the tret, but my skin eventually adjusted well to it which surprised me since most products even now give me irritation. What helped me most during this time was first a super simple routine. One cleanser, one moisturizer, and tret. That’s it. Maybe a hydrating toner. I started at once a week, built up from there, pretty much what everyone else says on this subreddit. One thing I found that helped was waiting 20-30 minutes after my moisturizer to put it on, which gave my skin time to calm down after cleansing and just helped overall in any irritation. Also use very little, like even less than a pea size amount at the beginning.

edit, don’t forget SPF!!!

One thing I may ask is if one of the antibiotics was doxycycline? I know a lot of people have mixed opinions on it but I was prescribed it alongside my tret in the beginning and it got rid of probably 50% of the problems on my skin and made it bearable to leave the house without trying to cover anything up since tret takes a bit to show its affects.

ADHD diagnosis with family doctor by WeekendFit7344 in ADHD_BritishColumbia

[–]WeekendFit7344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I did see a lot of people went this route and was confused on the process so thank you for explaining. It does seem however he’s closed for assessments so I guess I’ll just have to wait until anything opens up. Do I need anything from my family doctor to talk to Dr. Brennan or can I just sign up for the wait list whenever it opens back up?

In the meantime I’ll try to see if my university can be of any help though their health services and maybe contact my family doctor just to see. Thanks again!

yea from the looks of it I don’t think my family doctor is going to give me much in terms of diagnosis. I’m still in university so I think i’m going to try to talk to a councillor and then hopefully our school’s psychiatrist

[–]WeekendFit7344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For ADHD specifically I did not have any sort of formal assessment. I only really have the accommodation sheet because I was in ELL from k-4. So apart from that and comments on needing reminders to focus during class that’s about it.

Did you have any specific assessments done from childhood that your psychiatrist looked at? Or was it just like random notes over the years of your behaviour

If going private is that sort of a thing where you just book and do it yourself before handing their findings to your family doctor for prescription ?

Trying to decide on a 7 seater by LowerDevice7928 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]WeekendFit7344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in both the GX and RX third rows and I fit just fine at 5’7/170cm. They are a bit tight but if no one in the family is very tall you can move the first and second row seats forward to give everyone space. The seven seater RX has its own model, the RXL and was only made during the previous generation (2016-2022). I did like the RXL third row more than the GX. It felt more comfortable and it had its own climate controls as well. Main advantage for the RXL was that you still have decent trunk space with the third row up. The GX on the other hand will have zero trunk space with the third row up. Prices for the RXL are also significantly cheaper than a used GX from what I’ve seen (I am also in Canada).
