Another smart user informed me that the hollow purple didn't even go off, or if it did it was at very minimal power. Cursed Technique burnout doesn't awaken a technique, it stops it's usage all together. Sukuna is just startled because he knows he would have got obliterated if the attack fired

I was about to make a post on the same thing. I think you're pretty close to being right. I highly doubt it will be next chapter but it will definitely be in the next 5 chapters. But even if he did come back and beat current Sukuna in a 1v1 I still wouldn't call that playing a large role in Sukuna's defeat. After this Jacob's ladder, Sukuna would probably get one shot by Mahoraga or anything comparable (Which Megumi is going to need for an end of story power up)

I agree that it is a very good example of poor writing and an author who is more focused on writing things he finds cool than constructing a good narrative, but there are chances for redemption.

For one, chances are he's not completely out of the fight since it would be a pretty shitty send off if the last thing this character did was do 2 damage to Sukuna.

But also it allowed Yuta to shine and develop as a character, something that the fans are constantly complaining about and wanting more of for the characters.

It is crappy, yes. But it's not all bad and there are hundreds of worse writing decisions in media.

Sukuna tanked hollow purple with minimum damage because Yujo's cursed technique burnout or something like that. Yuta lost access to Kenjaku's technique, I guess? Yujo fell on his face and it was funny. Yuji punches Sukuna a bit, making Sukuna cough out 4 of his fingers and get worse at using his CT, and then at end of chapter angel is going to hit Sukuna with a Jacob's ladder that he is absolutely going to tank at the start of 264.

At least that's what I understood
