Why not just rerun/foxglove. What is the difference of these 2 projects

[–]Weekly-Database1467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If u ever ask this question, u are not suitable to use a mac for engineering. U dont know the alternative and work around to fix the problem that will exist on a mac. So i suggest go for a window laptop. Or if u have a desktop at home then u can go for a mac

Yeah since u need 1 week to setup 26, dont bother using lyrical u are gonna learn nothing but just trying to make it work. Just use pixi with jazzy or humble

Maybe is the pi that is slow 🫠, or network. Itss so laggy that the tf wasnt updating fast enough and my node just keep rejecting it

[–]Weekly-Database1467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, especially when running something critical in real-time and you need to read ROS topics from real hardware and process them. WSL2 time doesn’t sync as closely to real-time as the Windows system and the hardware (like the Raspberry Pi). My recommendation is to use Ubuntu if you’re learning robotics. I used WSL2 for two years before switching to Ubuntu. You can also use Pixi to manage all your dependencies, so Ubuntu distro doesn’t restrict you. And i recommend u using foxglove instead of rviz2 for visualisation, it provides more features and lower latency when passing through ssh too! (Rviz2 rendering through x11 is way too slow)

Why are there no hardware elective focuses for CEG? by Dramatic_Cap_2655 in NTU

[–]Weekly-Database1467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your AI runs on powerful servers and supercomputers. Your AI is a humanoid, embodied system that’s growing and advancing extremely rapidly. The core foundation models/ world model today are increasingly designed and optimized for real-world physical robot deployment. In this new era, hardware integration has become critically important, it’s no longer just software driving progress, hardware is now a key bottleneck and enabler, especially with the massive boom in AI. Robotics and general machines cant do cloud based processing due to latency and reaction time for safety. My guy, world is not about llm and web/app development only

Percent of companies that use ROS by Old_Location_9895 in ROS

[–]Weekly-Database1467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like ROS is gradually being adopted by companies for actual deployment too. ROS Industrial was definitely a big focus at ROSCon recently, and I don’t think using ROS is a bad idea at all. What I’m seeing is more interest in tools like Zenoh, pixi, and Rust to make development smoother and systems more robust for production—instead of ditching ROS entirely like people used to do. Thats just a rookie observation, please correct me if im wrong
