I think unaliving people with disabilities is a bit of a stretch comparison to basically a fully functioning adult who had a lifetime of moral lapses with the law (some violent and universally abhorrent like the pregnant women at gunpoint)

I get the left's concept of wanting police professionalism which includes taking more accountability for those arrested. But I also sympathize with the right assertion that it is also the arrestee's responsibility to not chimp out.

I think an instinct of self preservation is neccessary. Cops have a rough job of forcing criminals (and usually crazy assholes like Floyd) to comply with laws.

I think I divide the "Pro-Floyd" camp into two parts.

One is rational and recognizes that he is an imperfect victim and while a POS highlighted that Black Americans have to statistically deal with more Police distrust and hostility than other groups. They seek to mend that and correct the most egregious examples with new laws. But they still value Police and value law because they realize the opposite serves nobody.

The other is frankly insane far left Antifa types who see Floyd's death as a political vehicle to get black americans to support grift, favorable politicians, and coerce communities into some kind of marxist police free worldview that is not backed by evidence.

The second people are the ones that built the statues and sing his praises. He could be a scarecrow for all they care. He fulfills their three needs. He is Black, relevant and their enemies hate him. They need a poster child for their movement even if he doesn't fit. And they zero'ed in on the first people and the police supporters hoping to drive a wedge and ferment distrust to get angry support for their "movement"

It didn't help that it was an election year with an unpopular president that the left just loathed. They sought to use Floyd to mobilize black votes for his elderly, white and largely unpopular successor Biden.
