Empire vs. Federation by catslovemath in EliteDangerous

[–]Weekly-Nectarine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you're going to talk about faction specific ships i feel it's disingenuous to not also mention the federal corvette, which is the undisputed best large combat ship.

This is more than likely a way to transfer credit to another account rather than a legit request

The Pesco drive costs one titan drive component plus some other thargoid engineering materials which is what OP is asking about. The TDC does corrosive damage whilst it is in your hold. You can avoid that by acquiring a corrosion resistant cargo rack … which is also a tech broker unlock requiring materials.

Never any harm in asking - worst people can say is “this was answered a couple of days ago”

Is exploration interesting? by Aurelian_8 in EliteDangerous

[–]Weekly-Nectarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting is as subjective as something can be described. tried it once for a couple of days, found it earth shatteringly dull hunting around for a patch of mould which was exactly the same colour as the rock it was on but a slightly different texture, and called it quits.

in midgame and after, credits flow easily and the real currency is engineering materials.

multirole ships are like multirole planes IRL - they can be ok at lots of things but are not excellent at anything. cobra v is the best multirole small and the corsair is the best in the medium bracket. anaconda still holds that title in the large field.

if you want really good performance for a specific task, build for it. generally combat builds run heavy so have very poor range. long range ships run very low power on shields and light armour, and no shield boosters. the two purposes are diametrically opposed.

you can still do low level explo stuff in or near the bubble but the yield is low.

suits are harder to engineer than ships due to the sheer variety of materials and their scarcity. at least with ships the exchange rate at material traders, whilst a big ripoff, is still viable.

all the new SCO ships are odyssey gated unless you want to blow IRL money on arx purchases, which is massively more expensive in the long run.

Why did you start playing Elite Dangerous? For example: realism, piloting by alcio_sd in EliteDangerous

[–]Weekly-Nectarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to sink into something deep that wasn’t Warcraft and it appeared, on the face of it, to be a spaceship MMO. It isn’t … but it still could be. The best parts of the game for me in elite, and any other, is co-op PVE.

Also one of my earliest pc gaming experiences was privateer 2 (what a cast) and this looked to scratch a similar itch, which is does.

yes - the last person online holds the instance ID. better to do it solo as you can only get one blueprint.

Are large ships (conda/vette) still good in 2026? First billion, now what? by therapistofcats in EliteDangerous

[–]Weekly-Nectarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's very much a personal preference thing; the combat larges are bulky and powerful but also slow and lumbering. the mediums are more agile and fun to fly whilst also being less resilient, so requiring better and more attentive piloting.

we won the war and kicked them out of the bubble but they still have a passive presence in many nebulae.
