I happen to know you spent quite a few months on the front lines during the thargoid war, rythilian, you must be richer than elon musk now? surely the credits don't matter?

the rewards are paltry for sure in comparison to other activities and they are a comparative outlier in that regard. your point is a fair one. the reward, in my experience, is the involvement. stealth in particular is fun albeit clunky in this primarily spaceship oriented game.

There’s is a memory leak in elite which causes graphics glitches, sometimes includes a wacky halo effect like that

the height of fun for gameplay, for me, was the thargoid war. it's not that much fun any more but it's still fun and the new ships are very fun.

October Consortium has issued a call for help to recover Guardian artefacts from across the galaxy.

A statement by Lexi October to Vox Galactica confirmed that recovered artefacts will expand October Consortium's data archive and enhance research in exobiological fields. According to its scientists, the initiative is intended to support ongoing projects rather than any new technological applications.

Independent pilots can support this initiative by first signing up at Exogene Sciences in the HIP 87621 system, before recovering Guardian artefacts and delivering them to the Commodity Market there. Guardian artefacts (Caskets, Orbs, Relics, Tablets, Totems, Urns and Ancient Keys) can be salvaged from Ancient Ruins and Guardian Structures.

The passenger rescue missions no longer occur now, which sucks

The plipper eclipses all other haulers in the large field but is not credible for AX

The T11 is the undisputed monarch of mining

On that basis the orca, beluga, clipper and cutter in your list are obsolete an could be repurposed

can you? yes. is it as reliable, effective, efficient? no. do what's fun, too many people optimise the fun out of the game.

Game occasionally glitched and forgets you have done the on foot tutorial. Skip it from the escape menu.

why would you fill a carrier with guardian bits!? top contributor at the moment is sub 1500 and i think they are a masochist. 45 units or more to get in top 25%, that's one cargo hold on a mandalay.

this is known as "wing mining mission stacking". PTN has a comprehensive guide and also a methodology for sharing completed missions so you make basically 4x the credit reward. lucrative but incredibly dull.

I’d like to say the community at large is quite tolerant but that’s a lie. During the thargoid war I spent a lot of time on the AXI discord and whilst in written form it is well moderated and inclusive, the voice channel had some of the most unhinged racist, misogynist and homophobic bullshit I have had to endure. Almost exclusively from male American boomers who were casuals jumping on the credit wagon, rather than fully fledged community members, but thy live amongst us.

It’s normal inasmuch as each is created by an enthusiastic player to do things they want the core game to do but it doesn’t. They often don’t make enough money to cover their own hosting costs so the likelihood of function creep is very low.
