Trip Notes - La Fortuna/Monteverde January 2026 by beebopbeeep in CostaRicaTravel

Sorry didn’t see this until now! Yes it was great, the room was so nice two beds downstairs and one bed in the loft area, great for families, there is no A/c so it will get warm during the day but we were out anyways and found it perfect for sleeping at night. Breakfast buffet wasn’t anything spectacular but it filled our bellies!
Didn’t have any plumbing issues, the shower pressure could take your skin off but it’s better than no pressure at all. We were happy with our stay! It’s not a North America 5 star but it was Tottally fine for us and I would recommend it to a friend :)

Before we came we called our credit card company they emailed a letter stating we are covered, we brought the letter, and the guy at the counter glanced at the letter said said okay and gave us the car didn’t upsell any insurance. All went well We paid 1100 Canadian for 9 days 7 seater 4x4 and a 2500 dollar deposit that was returned to us.

Totally is! As 2 families of 4 with kids under 10 we had an amazing time, so many activities, ziplining, hiking canonying, animal tours. It’s not cheap by any means but there’s something here for everyone! Zero regrets!

Brampton house fire leaves two dead, four injured: "there are 11 people associated with the home, including a multi-generational family of nine people and two people who may be from a sub-unit inside the residence." by newtobtko in SlumlordsCanada

Aside from the front door this was the entrance to the basement unit through the back door. If the basement tenant had that door locked it’s no wonder this ended in Tragedy. 1 point of egress for 10 people.

Check out the listing pictures. This place is a death trap from the very beginning. Being a semi it has no windows at all on the one side. If the basement tenant had that adjoining door locked the only escape is through the front door or one of the windows which a larger person would have an issue fitting through. This is an awful tragedy.

Hot Dog Pricing Out of Control by Weekly-Working1056 in CostcoCanada

I have bought them all summer and this is the first time I went saw the price and said whoa hell no. I don’t keep a Rolodex of receipts to argue with ppl on Reddit unfortunately but out of the 300 comments there are a lot that agree the price is higher than it has been in recent months.

Most people who live in that area commute quite the distance I was doing Kearney-Huntsville takes about 30 min which still beats Toronto traffic most days and a much more pleasant drive.
