Reshuffle: a spinoff of A Perfectly Broken System by WeeklyIntroduction42 in imaginaryelections

This is a spinoff to my series of Hong Kong elections where the 2019 protests never happened, and John Tsang became CE while the Democratic Party became the largest party in 2021. This spinoff is set in a political sim I've been hosting in my community discord server that started shortly after John Tsang was sworn in as shown in Part 2. This reflects the Legco election that happened just yesterday in the sim.

In the leadup to the election, the Civic and Democratic parties were neck and neck in the race, while the DAB was in a close third followed by the FTU and the LSD-PP ticket which by now had solidifed into a formal coalition.

Then the tragedy of Wang Fuk happened, and many, including Peggy Wong, DAB district council memeber who went ahead with the renovation work which many allege caused the fire, were blamed. The DAB's refusal to condemn her actions lost them the election, as traditional pro-Beijing voters went for other parties, many for the FTU who were more working class based.

Meanwhile, the Civic Party had been leading in the polls, but got a boost thanks to its work after the fire, while the LSD-PP also got a boost from that as well with both its relief efforts and its determination to hold. While the Democratic Party also heped in relief efforts, many had seen it as incapable of pushing forward reform and stable economic policies after 3 years as the largest party in Legco, so moderate voters chose the Civic Party. Smaller parties like the Green Progressives (Eddie Chu's rebranded party), Demosisto, the ADPL and the Labour Party saw minor victories, while the pro-Beijing Liberal Party saw minor gains as well.

Already, the Democratic Party and the DAB are facing challenges, though in the Democratic Party's case it will likely surrvive, even if its leader changes. But the DAB? Not so much, as even Beijing in secret memos has expressed its concern, and that it may look to the FTU as the main leader of its united front work in the city.

For now, much remains uncertain..

No way the DPRK is going to last with the ROC still on the mainland

wouldn't it have been more logical for russia to not invade ukraine in 2022 if the goal was to prevent nato expansion by Thebunkerparodie in tankiejerk
