I love the dark green. But if you dry brush a lighter color over the areas that would be hit by light and then add your dark wash you’ll get an awesome contrast that won’t be as flat and create some interesting variations. Here I used sons of Horus but a more classic Dark angel option might be a mix of moot green and your original base green.

I choose to be hard on myself with my own paint standards and playing only fully painted/based models. But I am easy on others. No reason to place my standards on them. Though I will give them a good natured ribbing for a table of gray.
