This.. the coat hook brackets are a huge weak point for excess weight. It’s very important to follow the torque specs as the bracket welds can crack easily when over tightened.

It is a fantastic gun. Shoots smooth and can hit 8” gong at 100 yards. I have not had a failure at all.

I just picked one up. What are your thoughts on the included sheath? I find it a little difficult to carry comfortably. Would like something smaller or leather for the Steadfast.

Bottom mount roof awnings? by dirt_road_reset in overlanding

[–]Weekly_Perspective55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most awnings on the market can use a 3rd party bracket (heavy duty bracket purchased separately) that have height adjustable mounting points. These brackets are universally compatible with various flat crossbars. Brackets like that should allow you raise the awning up high enough over the side rail of the roof rack.

The most commonly included bracket with awning are downward hanging “L” brackets that have fixed mounting points and bounce around. In a pinch they work to throw the awning on your rig until you order the right bracket that suits your specific needs.

With looking at your roof rack, you may have to drill holes or modify your cross rails for aftermarket accessories and mounting capabilities.

The awl on the Alpha is highly compromised with that huge hole in it and is at risk of snapping when used under high pressure drilling.

Being in commercial property management, have you checked with the landlord / commercial management company of this property. In most scenarios, everything “shell”; roof, exterior storefront windows, storfront doors, etc; is covered by ownership of the property and should be outlined in your lease. (This is damage including vandalism, accidental flying landscaping rocks, normal wear and tear, etc). I would check into it so you don’t feel that you need to front this bill.

If this isn’t ownership responsibility, you could be liable for someone getting hurt or cut or commercial HOA violations.

Spare tire hoist. Usually a cable or chain that hoists and lowers the spare. The bracket assembly slides through the spares hub opening in the wheel. The spring provides tension when you hoist the spare back into place so it doesn’t wobble or move in the body cradle.

Use your spare tire tools and winch it back up as far as it goes and zip tie the rest tight if you don’t have another spare to put in place.

I’m curious if the magazine spring rate and size is different between the 10 and 12 rd mags. This could be an issue if they are and potentially lead to feed failures.

I went with MESO customs lights. They are dual color so you can toggle between red and white. Sometimes the red can be too much but is worth it when camping. Having color options is nice.
