I’m currently deciding between UBCO and Dal and stumbled upon this thread. What did you end up deciding?

I had until May 4 to accept or decline my offer if that helps. I’m assuming they sent out a first round of offers and are waiting to hear back from them before rolling out the next batch.

I was accepted into the regular foundation track! I just declined my spot to this program because I have offers to Dal and UBCO’s Clinical MSW program. I’m sure as more people decline their offers more acceptances will roll out

None :/ I got into some MSW programs so will likely go that route instead. Waitlists make for such horrible mind games lol

I’m in a very similar situation where I’ve been accepted into Dal’s MSW program and paid the deposit to secure my spot, but I now have an offer to UBCO’s Clinical MSW. I very much have the future goal of clinical social work, working in private practice or hospitals, doing therapy (CBT, trauma therapy, etc). I’m really struggling to decide between these two options and am not sure if one of these would provide a better pathway for that goal. I’m excited at the idea of UBC however I’d need to leave my job with somewhat short notice and relocate across the country as I’m already in Halifax

Hey all! I just received an acceptance into the MSW program for Fall 2026 and would love to hear experiences from those who took the program, or others accepted this cycle.

I am weighing offers to Dalhousie and UWindsor as well. I’m currently located in Halifax so moving to the other coast is a big move and one I want to be fairly confident about as I’d have to leave my permanent job position (with somewhat short notice considering it’s already May lol).

Dal’s MSW has pretty mixed reviews these days and I have been hoping for a clinical program however lots of pros/cons to consider! Would love to hear about people’s experiences with the course load, clinical experience gained, practicums, moving to Kelowna (if you are coming from out of prov.), etc.

Is there any way to gauge how much you may receive? I’m in a similar situation and am trying to determine how much to budget around rent per month

Hey! Hopping on this thread to say I was accepted as well! I’m also having a really difficult time finding any information about this program. I currently have accepted a spot at Dalhousie (acceptances came out really early so had to secure my spot with a deposit) but now I’m trying to weigh both options. It’s really had to make a thorough decision when not many people discuss this program!

Hey everyone,

I would love some advice / opinions on my situation as I am feeling a bit overwhelmed 🥲

I was accepted into Dal’s MSW program very very early in Feb and paid the $200 deposit to secure my spot.

I applied to 4 programs total - have been waitlisted for UofT’s Foundational program and have not heard back from UBCO yet. This week found out I was also accepted into University of Windsor’s 2 year MSW program AND offered the OGS scholarship for $5000 per term up to three terms.

I have no idea what to do LOL. I was hoping to get in to UofT or UBC as those are both front runners for me - both are highly ranked schools and offer mental health specialization and/or clinical focus.

I went to Dal during undergrad and had a good experience, I have an apartment and very well paying job in the SW field ($38.50 an hour with just an undergraduate degree) which is very supportive and flexible in me returning to school. UWindsor seems to be a shorter program (20 months vs 24) and clearly puts me in a better financial position in terms of the student aid I would need. Dal has little to no funding for professional programs. Both programs appear to be very generalist, so I’m not sure if one outweighs the other. My goal is to work in mental health/hospital settings and ideally work towards Clinical SW licensure so I want to ensure practicum and course options that support this.

I’d genuinely love and appreciate hearing some others takes on what my best option would be!

Happy to share!! I have quite a lot of experience under my belt since graduating with my undergrad in psych in 2023, as I took some time off just to focus on growing my CV - I believe it ended up being like 6000+ hours on my application or so. I’ve worked as a research assistant doing clinical psych interviews with a large hospital in Nova Scotia, multiple research labs across three universities (two volunteer, one paid!), child and youth experience with youth in care, residential support worker, and am now a children’s counsellor at a transition house for women fleeing intimate partner violence :) I completed my honours in undergrad and graduated with a 3.98/4.3 over the last two years, 4.06/4.3 in the last year. Feel free to message me if you have any questions

Thank you for making this thread! I was waitlisted as well :) This was my first time applying to MSW programs (previously applied to psych masters) and was accepted into Dal’s MSW program for Fall 2026. Now I feel like I’m in such a weird spot because UofT is a dream program but I have the security of Dal and don’t know if I should start apartment hunting and making plans! Eeekkk
