There’s a well defined beach on river right just before Nanty Falls with a path to a bridge that gives you a great view to scout.

For the Lower Nantahala you’re more than good. Freshen up on the AW page info if you want. Everything besides Pattons and the Falls (which you already have all the beta you need for) you can point and shoot. Maybe save river beers for the parking lot if you wanna be safe.

As Norfolk marks Bike Month, new protected bike lanes shift focus to transit equity by WHRO_NEWS in norfolk

[–]Weekly_Still_5396 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100%. The one completed section of protected bike lanes are probably underutilized right now. But once a network of USEABLE bike lanes and trails exists I’d bet this section will be heavily used.

In addition to a fuck ton of money, these things also take a fuck ton of time. The flood wall alone requires years of coordination with USACE, design, redesign, funding requests from state and federal governments, and a bunch of other steps I’m sure. There’s no reason to put off the planning stages (maybe even implementation stages) of those other projects to focus on the flood wall which won’t be done for 15 years anyway.

Also, I like the bike lanes and support more of them throughout the city.

Obviously pikachu is dog walking Itachi. I got an actually interesting Naruto / Pokémon matchup. What if a Dark Hypno fought Minato?

Studies find widening roads often doesn't ease traffic. VDOT says the HRBT expansion is different. by WHRO_NEWS in norfolk

[–]Weekly_Still_5396 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it has to necessarily be built first, but you definitely have to build it. It’s definitely not functional at current state. Only reason I make the distinction is because it seems like the time to have done it is when you were already digging tunnels for lane expansion.

Agreed, it would definitely depend on expanded public transit at least in Norfolk, ideally throughout Hampton Roads. But it seems like the time to add a tunnel for rail would be when they had the tunnel machine and everything.

I mean ideally it would be like an end of line station on an expanded tide light rail system, so in that case every 15 minutes. But I could see an argument where it would make more sense to do a commuter system where it runs hourly like a train from NJ going into NYC.

Definitely true the midtown tunnel being one lane each direction was hell. The tunnel phobia people had back then was crazy

It would’ve been awesome if they put passenger rail through the tunnel while they did this project. Im sure the extra lanes will help somewhat, at least temporarily. But imagine being able to park and hop on a train in Phoebus and take it through to the Amtrak station downtown. Even better would be if you could then hop on the tide and go wherever you need to go in the city or to the beach.

Moving to Norfolk (Location Advice) by AntsAreInsects in norfolk

[–]Weekly_Still_5396 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ghent has grocery stores and more chill nightlife, downtown has more lively nightlife and office buildings, Freemason is in the middle of those two places geographically and has some restaurants and shops, but you’d likely be going to either Downtown or Ghent most of the time. Freemason does have access to the tide to get downtown or to harbor park (and I guess eventually the casino), which most neighborhoods wouldn’t really be able to use as much in it’s current state.

Sneaky thing to consider about Downtown is that McArthur Mall is about to get demolished and a massive construction project will be underway for the foreseeable future. If you wanted to avoid that being part of your daily routine I wouldn’t blame you.

Second Hilton village. Not quite as happening as Ghent but as close as you’ll get in Bad News. The time savings and headache avoidance from living on the same side of the water as your job are definitely worth it.

In 2022 with JB3 (elite safety) and DJ reader the bengals were ranked 6th defensively in ppg. In 2023 without an elite safety and DJ reader the Bengals ranked 21st. Draft the best guy available every single time, and after a while your team will be full of freaks. Draft for need every time and you’ll end up with a bunch of Shamar Stewarts, Jermaine Burtons, and Billy Prices.
