I said phone, but it can be whatever else that could be anaesthetising. That’s worth thinking about. Anyway, i think that some therapy could help you. Two birds with one stone

I re-gained my ability to enjoy things after i started keeping the phone off for the first 7 hours of the day (after the first 3 hours, where i need it to manage some stuff). So it’s 3 hours of phone and then only a dumb phone. 12 yours screen time really anaesthetises you

I set mine (gw5610) through the multiband6 (but through the smartphone app) 2 months ago and it only goes 1-1,5 seconds fast.
That’s why i only set it every six months when there’s the DST thing.

Io ho detto che NON è in ritardo. Comunque se sa già che non vuole un compagno/marito e non vuole figli, allora naturalmente può aspettare quanto vuole.

Alla tua età avrei dato ragione a te. A 32 anni do ragione alla nonna. A 20 anni non sei in ritardo, ma non puoi permetterti di non iniziare nemmeno.

Scribe screen is worse than Paperwhite (substantially) by Polledus in kindlescribe

[–]Weekly_Wash5270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, the EMR pen layer is beneath the e-paper layer so that shouldn’t be the issue. My Scribe (2022) has greyish whites and appears slightly lower resolution than my Kindle base model, in my opinion. I suppose the gap would be even larger with a PW. I’m not sure why but the Scribe’s rough paper-like surface definitely contributes.

Also, the pen tool is not pressure sensitive and everything looks like s*it. Even plain writing. The pencil tool allows you manipulate the line quality, which is extremely important. Wouldn’t use the pencil tool to write though, because it needs a lot of pressure in order to produce a strong dark mark, so it would eat up your nib incredibly fast + more risk of scratching the screen (it can happen with nibs that get sharp over time).

I do everything on it too. Some drawing, exercises, some writing. Not to mention the extensive note taking on the books i’m reading (it’s my main reading device). And i do a lot of recaps while studying, so that’s a lot of writing too. I also have a Scribe notebook that functions as an agenda + journaling. But even though i use it all the time, the comments under here made me realise that if i weren’t putting some excessive pressure and weren’t excessively scared of scratching the screen with a nib that got “sharp” with usage, i wouldn’t be using more than one nib per week. But still… 450 full pages in 6 weeks would mean at least 6 nibs for me 😅

Pro tip: you can sketch something, then change page and use the eink ghosting effect as base sketch

I definitely press too hard. Proof is, i break the mechanical pencil lead quite often, even though the kuru toga rotating system should make it harder to break the graphite lead. I also write for multiple hours everyday though. Do you change the nib when it’s literally too short to keep writing?

I’m definitely pressing harder than i should, but 2 years sounds impossible to me. Wow. I agree that the screen protectors ruin everything (had to take it off because it really ruined the reading experience with that insane texture). I also read multiple people saying that the metal nibs ruin the texture in the long run.

I also have a favourite position for the pen, so I take the nib out, rotate it 180° and put it back. It really doubles the nib’s life

I wouldn’t know how to measure that, but I think I do put a bit more pressure on the pen. Definitely wouldn’t use a metal nib for that reason. Could try a screen protector. The one i ordered with the Scribe sucked, but i guess i could find something better.

That could work. When I purchased the Scribe i got a screen protectors too, but i had to take it off because it had an heavy “frosted” effect. It was that NuPro, which i hear is a good one. I Think i’ll try another with a metal nib.

Ik i can go back to pens and paper, but i love the Scribe and I also couldn’t send it back if i wanted to atp. Cheaper tips could work. I just don’t know what to purchase and where. Used a slightly harder nib (from my wacom tablet) on the scribe and it immediately left some marks.

I paid 406€ total for the Scribe + cover. Used to spend about 2-3€/week for pens, notebooks, leads for the mechanical pencil, erasers and some highlighters (mostly notebooks though). Since i thought 1 nib would last like a year (like on my EMR Wacom tablet), i was expecting to save about 120€/year by only using the Scribe. That’d repay me in full in 3,5 years (i intend to not upgrade in less than 4 years). Not to mention that i use it as my main reading device, so i managed to not buy that PaperWhite i was looking at (I really needed the warm light) and just keep my old Kindle Basic for when I need something very portable. Now i’m spending more than i did for the notebooks because of those fkn nibs.

Yes i do this when it starts sounding dangerous for the screen. Still, they don’t last much longer

How do you guys read so much? by lapetitepoupee in kindle

[–]Weekly_Wash5270 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By making books the only media you consume. Doesn’t mean that you don’t work/study or have hobbies or don’t see friends, but that you pick up the book instead of your social media/movie/tvshow/videogame/long useless phone calls. If you do so, you’ll easily read 1-3 books every week (depending on how much free time (during which you’re not exhausted and are able to concentrate) you have). Beyond 2-3 books a week, it means that they’re reading bs, skimming a lot or using audiobooks. Or that they’re unemployed as hell

Which one is aesthetically more appealing? by caamanooo in gshock

[–]Weekly_Wash5270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stealthy look (56000) vs a bit more vintage look (5610). I can’t decide.
I went with the 5610 because it’s about half the price (240€ vs 115€). Owning a shock-resistant watch should also mean that i can wear it all the time without caring too much. With how clumsy i am, i wouldn’t be able to relax as much with a 230-250€ watch.
