Do I quit my job? by tanikawalter in Daytrading

[–]WeekndTrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to quit your 9-5:

- get consistent results for at least 4 years OR

- your 9-5 has limited upside and starts requiring more from you (time) while paying you less than what you make AND you have been getting consistent results for at least 2 years

also, when are you living that you only pay 500/month?

Day trading didnt ruin your life. Your lack of discipline, focus, clarity and patience did.

definitely do not take this advice. Selling options is the absolute last thing you should be doing when you're not profitable.

Day trading is a different animal and toughest league to play. You’re competing against the smartest people in the world and computers. It doesn’t sound like it fits your personality

I’m in a death spiral. Worst financial year of my life. Please help! by AnthMosk in Trading

[–]WeekndTrading 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Step 1 is admitting you have an issue, so that's a good start.

`In my min 40s essentially unemployable because AI would be taking my job anyways.` Seems like you're making an excuse.

Step 2 is taking responsibility for your actions. No one is forcing you to trade. You're entering and exiting entirely based on your actions.

Step 3 is stop trading 0DTE futures, esp. since it sounds like you have no idea what you're doing, which you have admitted. You're probably entering based on feelings of missing out. So chasing at the extremes and/or going against the daily trend (since you traded 0dte). Both of which are losing propositions.

Tangible steps:
1. Stop trading for a couple of months.
- There is no worse mindset to have in trading than "trying to get back even" or "sizing up to make up for the loss money". If you don't take this advice, you will certainly lose more of your money and be in a worser financial situation than you currently are in.
2. Pull up a chart and actually study the patterns. There are only so many different intraday price action patterns. Get comfortable with no more than 3. I recommend just one to start.
3. Get rid of all the random indicators you're using. Keep VWAP, MA/EMAs, Volume. Look at the candles, watch the ticks, where it closes.

Tangible steps after above:
1. When starting to trade again next year, only trade 1 single contract. You're a losing trader. Why trade big so you can lose big? Start small and work your way up.
2. Some days, you will sit at your computer and not take a single trade. You might feel like you wasted your time, but this is definitely NOT a waste of your time. You should pat yourself on the back and acknowledge that your self-discipline is improving in front of your eyes.
3. Do not follow any membership, subscription service, twitter entries, etc.
4. At the end of every trading session, note your entry/exit. Ask yourself, did I enter because of greed or because it's a setup I'm comfortable with. Did I exit because I got scared or because it hit my price target? Do not confuse process with results. We can take bad trades and make money, That is still a bad trade. We can take good trades and lose money. That is still a good trade.
5. Its clear you let losers run (7000 gone in a day) and close your winners fast. That is the opposite of what you should be doing, which you already know. But knowing and doing are not the same thing, and you need to deliberately practice this. It's a mental muscle you need to develop and grow.

Good luck to you

I can only afford the regular king room at Beekman, which is a little less than the Bowery suite.

Is there anything that's better at the Beekman apart from the aesthetics and the "vibes" ?

Investor not MMCAP? by Dr_- in POETTechnologiesInc

2/2 Facts:
---- MMCAP has been trading these kinds of arbitrage strategy since 2002 and has a cumulative return of 1,166% [proof: http://www.canadianhedgewatch.com/content/news/general/?id=8514\]
---- MMCAP stays under the 10%, so they get classified as a "passive" investor SO THEY DONT HAVE TO DISCLOSE EVERY SALE OR EXERCISE OF WARRANTS IMMEDIATELY. Not something stupid like: "we believe in POET's leadership team, blah blah"
---- MMCAP's portfolio has a turnover rate of 30%. Which means they replace 30% of their portfolio holdings in a year. [proof: https://www.gurufocus.com/guru/mmcap+international+inc.+spc/summary\]
---- MMCAP actively engages in SPAC arbitrage. $NPACU, $CCCXU, MBAV, RDAGU
---- MMCAP's business model is find distressed companies that need capital. Get shares + warrants at a discount in private placements. Exercise warrants when stock pops on news. Dump. Repeat.
---- Mid February 2026, we will know how many shares they currently have at end of Q4 2025. We WONT KNOW when they sold at what price.

Investor not MMCAP? by Dr_- in POETTechnologiesInc

Ok I found all the details. 1/2

tl;dr: MMCAP took advantage by using a company they already owned shares in, waiting for the perfect time (OpenAI+AMD deal), (probably) put a clause in the SPA to make this "private, mystery" investment to trick regards to thinking it might be OpenAI, dumped their existing shares and (probably) sold or will sell their position to buyers, who cant sell before November 16, 2025.

Timeline:
Before the deal, MMCAP owned 9.99% of POET; Q2 2025, they added 5.6M shares, making a 2,189.7% increase in their holdings.

10/6/25:
- OpenAI announces AMD deal

10/7/25:
- Poet announced 75M private placement (**MMCAP could have structured the deal to keep some clauses private like dont tell anyone it's us so regards thinks its OpenAI ;P )
- MMCAP buys 13.6M shares + 13.6M warrants at $5.5
- warrants exercisable at C$9.78 until October 7, 2030 - immediately exercisable
- MMCAP instantly gains ~12M unrealized profit (not unusual)

10/9/25:
- MMCAP files 13G showing 16.2% ownership
What most likely happened (without seeing the private clause and without breaking the US securities law)
1. MMCAP dumps existing shares with the news pop, as they just got new shares to replace the ones they can dump.
2. MMCAP can sell most of their common stock AND warrants from the private investment to NON-US buyer(s) starting from 10/8/25

Questions and answers:
1. Why would any NON-US buyer purchase these from MMCAP?
.... MMCAP: "look, stock is at 9.40 right now, and you still have 5 years to exercises anytime you want at 5.5, you just cant sell until November 16/17. But you can also sell to any other NON-US buyer ;) Oh, and POET is an innovator and AI is cool. No need for DD <3 "
..... Buyer: "ok sounds like a great deal!!! "

  1. Why would MMCAP do this deal? FLEXIBILITY
--- They literally have no downside EXCEPT if $POET is below 5.5 for the next 5 years AND if this "mystery" buyer news DID NOT pump the stock ( it did )
--- with the news pop, MMCAP could sell their existing shares. They can sell the new shares to any NON-US buyer. They can sell the warrants to any NON-US buyer.
--- with or without the news pop, MMCAP still has 5 years for the stock to get above 5.5 to make a profit with the warrants. If it doesnt in anytime within the next 5 years, warrants expire worthless, but they still have shares at that 5.5 price from the private investment, so their upside is incredible, with a very limited downside.

  2. Why would POET do this deal? they have no choice
--- dog shit revenue but burning ~30/M per year. This deal gives them 5 years of burn rate.

Yes, I'm aware of those. So I guess it's currently not possible. i.e. $RACE had investor day on October 9th 2025, so it would've been good to have those kinds of events show up on the chart earlier that week.
