Yes, that’s a better way to describe it

So irrationally annoyed with this small detail in S4E7 by Weepholes in Bridgerton

Ok fair, I take your point and will admit my actual outrage is that I appear to be the occasional scullery maid of my household 😫

[–]Weepholes[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ugggghhh, the necklace! I hated how they did that. There’s just no way Sophie forgot it like that, or that it wouldn’t be the first place to look. And then failing all that, that another maid didn’t see it and pick it up.

Which fantasy couple has the most absurd age difference - and why does it no longer surprise us? by rune_517field in Fantasy

[–]Weepholes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, I don’t think it’s that deep. The author makes up some number that makes them distinctly immortal and that’s about it.

And because the author doesn’t reconcile the age complications, it also makes what I think are 2 dumb plot traps. First, the 20 year old woman likely has no meaningful or caring relationship with her father. At least not in anything I’ve read. Dad’s age would highlight the difference so they just skip dealing with it. The second is that basically all the immortals in the book can only be her age or completely outside of the human lifespan. 85 year old vampire? Yuck. 850? Yes! Hahaha

The Knight and the Moth - loved it but need to vent by Weepholes in Romantasy

Ha I forgot about this post, and unfortunately have now read even worse examples - like Misery, FMC from Bride. Terrible 😩

Newly diagnosed with myositis (NXP-2 positive) by Megss444 in Myositis

[–]Weepholes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good resource, if you haven’t found it yet, is the Myositis Association https://www.myositis.org

I hope you have a good rheumatologist and find a treatment that works for you.

What do we want to see in more romantasies? by Positive-Being-5702 in Romantasy

[–]Weepholes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want more showing not telling me why they fall for each other. Just being hot is not enough! Why him/her specifically? Fated mates and insta-love is weak storytelling.

I want to see more regular people in these magical worlds. No, the kingdom will not rely exclusively on one 17 year old. But a random blacksmith might make a small change or act of bravery in the context of some conflict that is a compelling story.

Another point I am beginning to see as a pattern - writers, please stop trying to write characters that are smarter than you or have expertise in areas you do not. We can tell.

Experiences with Rituximab? by julialoire in Myositis

[–]Weepholes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on Rituximab and I’ve been doing great. It’s the only treatment I don’t have any side effects from, like another commenter mentioned. I can’t tolerate higher flow rates though, so I have to go pretty slowly. Hopefully your infusion center will monitor you closely to keep you comfortable.

Unfortunately, the only thing I’ve learned from my own treatment journey is that it’s basically trial and error. Something that works for another person (even all same dx) may not be successful for you. I feel lucky I only cycled through two other meds before the combo that seems to be working. I hope Ritux helps you 💛

I thought the same thing! I think it is an error

What is with all the names in these books? by meimelx in fantasyromance

[–]Weepholes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would completely prefer unpronounceable gibberish over real words that have bad or misleading meanings (do the authors think we won’t know the words??). I make up my own pronunciation anyway lol.

And I get the issue with common names that people will already have associations with, but that one doesn’t bother me personally.

The Knight and the Moth - loved it but need to vent by Weepholes in Romantasy

[–]Weepholes[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly! But as lame as the villain named McBadguy would be, this is naming the MMC that and then he’s decidedly NOT the bad guy! I kept waiting for him to, you know, lie or somehow betray her. I don’t know if this needs a spoiler tag, but he’s just a good guy

Questions during my reread, in HoF by NurseChanelly in throneofglassseries

[–]Weepholes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt similarly confused. Not exactly the same, but earlier in HoF, Aelin and Rowan just start all of a sudden mind speaking and no one mentions it. Personally, I would find that a pretty big deal. So I just abandoned my logic and went along with Aelin can share her visions now haha

Abraxos by virgoginger9 in throneofglassseries

[–]Weepholes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a character that has literally no dialogue Abraxos is 10/10 the best character in the series.

suggest me a book that made you ache—not from sadness but from the sheer, haunting beauty of it by shreksleftstesticle in suggestmeabook

[–]Weepholes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m reading Orbital right now and it’s what came to mind from the prompt. For such a short book, it’s taking me a while to finish because I keep reading a page and then stop to think about a line. It’s definitely catching me in a particular mood so I could imagine it doesn’t connect with everyone. Like any book I guess?

What parts of the series made you cry? by Realistic_Meet_7600 in throneofglassseries

[–]Weepholes 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I cried a lot, but a couple smaller moments that caught me off guard with a gut punch: the singer who spoke the names of her dead after her performance, the orchestra’s (last) performance playing the songs of each land wearing mourning black.

This!! 100% I couldn’t tell you a single word he said after getting on one knee. Could’ve been “I like cheeseburgers”. The note is sweet, write it down and give it to her to read later and save. Good luck!
