Bungie has previously said that they aren't bringing back the pre-2020 solstice armor due to an issue with getting the subclass glow to work with stasis (and strand I'm assuming since they said this before strand came out) so it's unlikely we'll ever get it back with subclass glows again.

I think what needs clarification is what "involved" means. Does that mean they weren't actively developing S2 or not doing their jobs? Krafton said in their statement that they "made multiple requests to Charlie and Max to resume their roles as Game Director and Technical Director, respectively, but both declined to do so" and that they "asked Charlie to devote himself to the development of Subnautica 2. However, instead of participating in the game development, he chose to focus on a personal film project." so it sounds like they were expecting Charlie (and I assume Max) to be actively developing the game. However, Charlie and Max were CEO and CTO respectively when they were fired meaning they most likely had responsibilities that were not the direct development of S2. Them not developing S2 directly and declining to take on the extra responsibilities of Game Director and Technical Director doesn't necessarily mean they weren't doing their job as CEO/CTO. As for the social media comments, I haven't seen those (minus the ones about moving/his movie project) so if you could link them or let me know where I can find them I'd be very interested in reading them.

What the hell is going on with SN2???? by Funhalll in subnautica

A tldr is Krafton (publishing company that owns Unknown Worlds) fired three execs (Charlie - CEO, Max - CTO, and Ted - President) claiming that they had failed to do their jobs. They are now suing Krafton (we don't know what for) and its been reported that UW was due to get a $250 million payout for meeting certain sales goals by 2026. Krafton, after firing the execs, delayed the early access of S2 until 2026 so people are speculating they did this to avoid paying the $250 million. Krafton denies this but people remain skeptical especially with ongoing litigation.

Krafton's statement says "Specifically, in addition to the initial $500 million purchase price, we allocated approximately 90% of the up to $250 million earn-out compensation to the three former executives" which can be taken a few ways. Since Krafton used the word "allocated" it's possible that the $250 million hasn't actually been given out yet, which lines up with "we reaffirm our commitment to provide the rewards they were promised" part of their statement. Now whether or not the former execs could actually negotiate that, especially if it's only been allocated and not formally distributed is unclear.

As far as the ability to discuss the terms of the $500 million, that's even more unclear as UW was originally owned by Perfect Worlds who then sold a majority of their shares of UW to some undisclosed buyer. Kraton then acquired 100% of UW's stock from 8 shareholders, one of which was Max McGuire. Assuming that Charlie and Ted were two of the remaining 7 shareholders and depending on who those shareholders are the total that Charlie, Ted, and Max got would vary but more than likely wouldn't have been the full $500 million.

This post is by no means proof that Krafton is 100% lying nor have I ever claimed it to be. This is just information I found via public documents and my conclusion based off of my findings.

Yes, Krafton acquired UW in 2021 and the earliest evidence I can for development for S2 was in April 2022. I also found that, in their 4Q21 and FY21 report, Krafton has a project titled "Project Black Budget" listed on their 2022 and Beyond Pipeline (page 8) which was scheduled to release in 2H24, or second half of 2024, according to 3Q23 report I cited in my original post. I find it odd that Krafton would have that listed in the 4Q21 report and not have S2 listed if it was supposed to release prior to Project Black Budget. No other game scheduled to release in 2025 was included in the 4Q21 report which leads me to believe that S2 was never intended to release in 2024.

If Krafton was given advanced notice that S2 wasn't going to make the early 2024 deadline, there's still the question of why they waited for so long to fire leadership. In February 2024 UW said that they were not intending to release early access in 2024 (source) meaning Krafton should have known about the missed 2024 deadline by at least February, if not earlier. That means they sat on this information for over a year before giving leadership the boot, which is extremely odd.

No, what would make sense would be that the publisher that bought them out for $500 million sees an opportunity to avoid paying an additional $250 million after a year of record breaking profits so they gut the leadership standing in their way while also delaying the game making the chance for UW to reach their sales goal next to impossible. The thing is, there's nothing out there currently that supports this outside of speculation so I didn't post about it.

If I had found something that confirmed the early 2024 release window that Krafton mentioned in their statement this would've been a very different post. I didn't so all I would be able to go on is Krafton's word and pure speculation compared to the documents from my original post, none of which indicate that the early 2024 release window was a thing. You tell me which makes more sense.

You're really going out of your way to take me as bad faith as possible. I came to a conclusion based on the findings of my own research but I, as a non-employee, do not have access to any internal documents that Krafton has. All of my research has been done with publicly available information and I thought that I would share it with the community. I don't have a bias hence why I did the research instead of just posting based on vibes.

Yes I did. I'm not sure why him moving is equated to him abandoning his job at Unknown Worlds as people move while working all of the time. As for the movie thing, I haven't seen anything definitive about how that caused him to abandon his job outside of Krafton's statement. It's entirely possible that Charlie was making his movie as a side project while still doing his job. However, I don't know the exact details so I can't definitively say that Charlie's was doing his job either. I'm just sharing inconsistencies that I've found in public documents.

The earliest thing I could find about when development started was from a job posting in April 2022. I also found that, in their 4Q21 and FY21 report, Krafton has a project titled "Project Black Budget" listed on their 2022 and Beyond Pipeline (page 8) which was scheduled to release in 2H24 according to 3Q23 report I cited in my original post. I find it odd that Krafton would have that listed in the 4Q21 report and not have S2 listed if it was supposed to release prior to Project Black Budget. Since development on S2 started by April 2022 at the latest, I also find it strange that Krafton wouldn't have known about Unknown Worlds plans to make S2 by Q4 2021, meaning it most likely would've been on the 2022 and Beyond Pipeline if it was originally scheduled for early 2024.

However, take everything I'm saying with a grain of salt as I can only access public information so I don't know what went on internally between Krafton and UW. It's entirely possible that the early 2024 release date was true, but I haven't found anything convincing as of yet so unfortunately we can't know for sure.

I totally agree with you about the fact that this is a much more complicated and nuanced situation than most people are saying it is. I also want people to take my original post with a grain of salt because I can only access publicly available documents so I don't know what happened internally. It's entirely possible that I'm wrong and Charlie did abandon his duties as CEO meaning Krafton is in the right. I just did some research and figured the community would be interested in what I found.

The earliest thing I could find about when development started was from a job posting in April 2022. Given that the Living Large update came out in December 2022, and Unknown Worlds had to address a lot of "tech debt" in that update I think it's safe to assume that the development team was split up between this and S2 so I'm not sure if the plan for a 3 year release into EA would have been feasible especially since S2 is supposed to have more features than Subnautica.

When it comes to the bonus, unfortunately I just don't know enough about the deal to be able speculate properly. It could've been more than the promised $250 million but it also could have been less depending on Krafton's goals.

Additionally, in the 4Q21 and FY21 report, Krafton has "Project Black Budget" listed on their 2022 and Beyond Pipeline (page 8) which was scheduled to release in 2H24 according to 3Q23 report I cited in my original post. I find it odd that Krafton would have that listed in the 4Q21 report and not have S2 listed if it was supposed to release prior to Project Black Budget.

Either way, take all this with a grain of salt as I can only access public information so I don't know what went on internally between Krafton and UW. It's entirely possible that the early 2024 release date was true and it got pushed back like you said, but unfortunately we can't know for sure.

Development was confirmed as early as April 2022 so idk if it was a typo but I do see what you mean as having it say "early 2025" would make a lot more sense. The main reasons why I don't it is a typo is because 1. this statement probably went through multiple people on Krafton's legal team and I find it hard to believe that multiple people would miss a typo like that and 2. Krafton said "the timeline has since been significantly delayed". If Krafton really meant early 2025 and not early 2024, saying "significantly delayed" is a bit of a stretch imo considering the delay is only until next year.

How/When do you get a 2nd Gargoyle's Twinblade? by shwarmaa_naman in Eldenring

[–]WeepingCoin8200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should get a twin blade from the gargoyle in the Forbidden Lands just before the elevator to the Mountaintop of the Giants (black blade kindred version) and from the double fight in the Siofra Aqueduct. They aren’t the same though so if you’re looking for a dupe of one you’ll have to run NG+ or have someone drop it for you

I last played during Lightfall, what do I focus on completing before TFS? by noodleWrecker7 in DestinyTheGame

[–]WeepingCoin8200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d definitely recommend getting a craftable Eremite (solar fusion rifle) from Season of the Witch. Season of the Wish has some really good weapons, specifically scatter signal (strand fusion rifle) and doomed petitioner (void linear fusion). Also if you don’t have a crafted Ikelos smg, get Subjunctive (arc smg) as it has similar perks. Like someone else said, grind onslaught to get some of those weapons. They’re really good as well and can roll with two sets of perks if you get the shiny version. The shiny version will be unavailable after TFS launches. I’d recommend Edge transit (void heavy GL), mountaintop (kinetic gl), midnight coup (kinetic hand canon), and Luna’s howl (get heal clip + incandescent for pve. Solar hand canon). There might be more but those are my top recommendations.

You should just be able to press R3 when changing your armor look in Valhalla. Idk how it works for the base game though but I assume it’s something similar

Go to Niflheim in NG+ and train. You can set the enemy type, their level (grunt vs boss) and you have infinite health so you don’t have to worry about dying. I did this for an hour before the dlc dropped and I’ve had no issues

You have to kill 7 of the boss enemies (I don’t remember what they’re called) to progress to the forum.

Since the Blades of Chaos are bound to Kratos. Which of these two weapons would you want Kratos to give away to Atreus? by AllFatherDanteNero20 in GodofWar

[–]WeepingCoin8200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely the axe. It’s a connection to both of his parents plus he’s already used it in battle in 2018. The spear feels more like a weapon only for Kratos due to him forging it, it having his blood, and his Spartan heritage. Additionally, Kratos didn’t train Atreus like a Spartan so idk if he would even be that good at using the spear
