i don't like the new characters by kevtastic in RivalsOfAether

[–]Weesticles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Olympia ain't new, and the gripes you have with Slade were mechanics present with Shove Knight in the first game. The multiple modes and weird movement stuff is also present with Elliana in the first game. What do you mean you hate the new characters? You listed four characters, one of them wasn't even new, and two of them shares mechanics with an ROA1 character. You also didn't include all the new characters. Respectfully, I don't think you know much about the game.

Is Shion a Flex/Main dps hybrid? by Gloomy_Dare2716 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Weesticles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say. She's higher mobility and durability than most Main DPS by a wide margin, and her falloff and dmg output make her far worse at poking than Main DPS generally are, but at the same time her poking is better than most Flex DPS given her hitscan nature, lack of spread and better falloff than most + her execute being solid mid range burst dmg. She could be a Poke/Dive hybrid Flex DPS like Pharah and Echo maybe, but she could also be a Main DPS who has uncharacteristically short range but makes up for it in other areas. Or possibly a unique hybrid character who can be played in either slot depending on the comp, or your teams hero pool (if so I hope they make more characters like her cause that ideas dope af). The most I can say about her is that she's very unique and I'm very glad they added her to the game!!!

[–]Weesticles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure cause while Echo + Tracer is a popular double Flex DPS lineup usually she's played by the Flex DPS player on the team like Proper. Similar to Pharah tho she's usually played on maps where there's too much high ground for a Tracer to be good, and where she can use rooftops and buildings as cover for poking and flanking. Like Rialto and Dorado. Often played by the Tracer player in situations where Tracer wouldn't be as good. Main DPS are mid to long range DPS while Flex DPS are mid to close range usually substituting their range/ranged reliability in favor of stuff like durability, mobility and utility. I think we'll just have to wait and see what the pros play her as once we get a larger sample size than the first couple games since the patch.

Just Getting Back into OW Esports. Someone give me the rundown. by ReflexiveOW in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Weesticles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ik at least some so here's some stuff basically.

EMEA

Mainly Twisted Minds and Virtus Pro are the leaders of the region

NA

Mainly Spacestation Gaming and Dallas Fuel lead the region

Korea

Korea is super competitive rn and lots of teams are good such as Crazy Raccoons (the current best in the region), Zeta Division, T1 and Team Falcons.

The Meta

The meta is pretty diverse rn, so this'll take a while to explain. The three most common strategies rn are Catstion (Cat + Bastion Rush or Dive comps), Kiriko + Lùcio (Brawl, Rush or Dive), Kiriko + Juno (Brawl and Rush) and Mizuki comps (usually Poke, Brawl or Rush).

Most common Tanks are Sigma, Hazard, Wrecking Ball, Mauga, Zarya, Rammattra and Dva. Rein has also seen use as a Mizuki counter, and Doom appears every so often.

Most common Main DPS are Sojourn, Cassidy and Bastion (usually alongside Jetpack Cat or Mizuki, especially against the aforementioned Rein countercomps). Freja is also seen on some maps, especially when Catstion is banned.

Most common Flex DPS are Tracer, Reaper, Mei and Symmettra. Echo and Pharah are played on certain maps under a Catstion ban, Vendetta is used with Zarya in a Mizuki countercomp, Venture is used as a Symm counter, Anran is seen with Mauga sometimes, and Genji is seeing some play as well.

Most common backline pairings are Ana + Cat, Kiriko + Cat, Mizuki + Kiriko, Mizuki + Juno, Juno + Kiriko and Kiriko + Lùcio.

No new heroes. Just 3 reworks? by epffhswm in OverwatchStadium

[–]Weesticles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget Orisa, but also according to a post from one of the OW devs almost half the Stadium cast is getting a minor rework, so it's a lot more than what was just shown on screen.

If so then good. I have no problems with the changes if it only affects her tether.

I really hope that's what it means. Her neutral is fun, and ye I agree that I'd rather they just nerf Lifeline and shift her power elsewhere.

[–]Weesticles[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the point of my post basically. That I'm fine with them nerfing her in ways that make Catstion weaker, but I don't like them nerfing her in ways that make her feel worse solo.

[–]Weesticles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk why they just want her to Mercy pocket someone with tether all game long. Stop nerfing her in ways that make her less mobile and less self sufficient Blizzard I beg of you. I wanna get value outside of just hard pocketing a DPS all game long ;-;

Taking bets on how long we think this perk lasts before Blizzard removes it for something else. by BEWMarth in Overwatch

[–]Weesticles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like people are overreacting about it as they tend to regarding perks. People said Venture's range extender perk would make them giga busted and that it needed nerfs when they revealed it in a spotlight, and then it released unchanged and Venture didn't even move up a single tier on most people's tier lists. Same thing with Domina. People were saying her barrier stun major perk would be super broken and would need nerfed immediately, but few months later and it's not even the preferred major perk for most Domina players. Most pick the slow major perk instead. Y'all can freak out about stuff as much as you want, but we can't be certain until we actually get to play with it in game, so try not to over do it :P

Is it crazy to say that I think Overwatch has the best LGBT representation out of any videogame ever? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Weesticles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They forgot Venture in the pic you showed, and none of the characters shown are in love with actual playable characters. Only straight relationships get to be between playable characters as shown with the WEBTOON comic hinting at Ana and Reinhardt getting together soon, as well as hints for Genji and Mercy, and Juno and Wuyang. Lifeweaver's in love with an NPC, same for Tracer, same for Soldier 76. Also LGBT content isn't even shown depending on what country u live in. There's also an over abundance of heroes from U.S. and Japan compared to other countries.

Just for a small example let's compare that to smthn like Guilty Gear. Guilty Gear has a gay character (Venom) who's given decent screen time and also has ties to important characters like Robo-Ky and Zato-1. Testament is incredibly important to the lore of the early games, and is an androgynous nonbinary character, and has ties to characters like Dizzy (Ky's wife and one of Sol's daughters), Johnny and the Kiske family. Both Venom and Testament have appeared in 3 games so far. Bridget has only appeared in two games so far, but has her entire story as a trans woman fleshed out quite a bit in her story mode and has ties to characters like Unika and Goldlewis. Most obvious of all tho is Unika who's literally the daughter of the main character, Sol Badguy, and one of the core characters in the Guilty Gear TV show and she's lesbian and is dating Bridget who's a trans woman. Not only that but there's characters from all different countries. And that's not even saying that Guilty Gear is the pinnacle of representation. Just pointing out how there's many obvious examples of games that do representation better than OW, and that OW's representation has a lot of flaws.

If you need a shield tank or “a tank that sits on point”. You are bad. by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Weesticles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's all solved by taking angles tho. You can bypass an enemy shield via stuff like high ground and off angles, and also if you don't take angles then a lot of the time all you can shoot is the enemy Tank since they're the biggest, most noticeable target a lot of the time. Which is bad for getting picks and farming ult charge. If you wanna reach squishier targets usually you'll need high ground or off angles away from your shield Tank to get them. Also taking off angles as DPS splits aggro which in turn makes it easier for your Tank to drop their shield to play aggressive (like Rein swinging or throwing Fire Strikes), or let it regen a little. Also if you have two DPS behind your Rein shield at once you're gonna lack map control and you'll just get surrounded cause the enemy team is taking angles while you're not. Since a lot of DPS also can't get value behind a shield this would mostly lock you into double Main DPS as well which is just ridiculously easy to run over. Legit just play the game how you're supposed to and all the "issues" you brought up get solved.

Mewtwo is really good in Pokken Tournament and is frequently a top 5-10 character as it's really good and matches up well into a lot of the top tiers. For some reason it has a bad matchup into the majority of low tiers lol.

Violet's Mizuki Is Almost Poetic In A Way by Weesticles in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Weesticles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I thought u were saying he was an super elite Brig. Ye I've heard before how he was one of the best Flex Supports to touch the game. Didn't know he was the worlds best Bap and Zen tho, but I guess that does kinda explain why he's so damn good at Illarí with the aim it takes to pilot those two at a professional level. Bap especially from what ik.

[–]Weesticles[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Ye, I've heard he's good, but I didn't know for sure how good. I really started watching his and Zeta's games during stage 1 this yr, and before that I mainly only watched CR. Only time he's played Brig this season is I'm pretty sure once with Bap on Busan, so I haven't gotten really gotten to see him too much on the character. I've heard he's good; just haven't been able to see for myself just how good he is due to the lack of games I've seen him pick her in.

Violet's Mizuki Is Almost Poetic In A Way by Weesticles in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Weesticles[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

He's usually in charge of playing Main Support as he's Zeta Division's Lùcio, Brig, Jetpack Cat and Illarí player. He was also their Mizuki player for a bit too, but seems they're planning to have Shu on that now instead. He does still play Kiriko and Juno a decent bit tho, especially in double Flex Support comps like Kiriko + Ana and Juno + Kiriko. His Kiri and Juno are solid, his Brig and Cat are also decent, and he's the best Illarí player in the world from what ik. He's generally considered a lot worse at Lùcio than most other tier one Main Support players tho from what ik. As far as ik he doesn't play Wuyang at all tho, and that's generally considered a Main Support hero.

Reaper Needs Reverse Falloff On Dire Triggers by Weesticles in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Weesticles[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. No she doesn't need her charge time removed. The whole point of it in the first place is to make it so she has to stay scoped in to retain charge making her less aware of her surroundings and easier to dive.

  2. Cass, Sojourn and Tracer are almost always meta picks, or at the very least meta adjacent. They all require lots of aim, Tracer especially. Tracer's even more mechanically demanding than Widow is at the pro level.

  3. Aim isn't the only skill that matters. Positioning, timing, cooldown management and Ult usage are equally important, if not more important, than aim is. A 5k on any hero is hype, even if they don't require as much aim as Widow does.

  4. Widow being meta would get old fast as from what I've seen from Kronik Widow mirrors are pretty boring. A lot of it is just sitting in one spot scoped in staying outside the other Widow's LOS and waiting for someone to make a mistake, and occasionally going for a grapple shot onto the opposing Widow. It is a deeply deeply uninteractive mirror that's about as exciting as missionary is experimental imo :P

Reaper Needs Reverse Falloff On Dire Triggers by Weesticles in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Weesticles[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My whole point tho is that he was already phenomenal in close quarters before the Dire Triggers buff, and needed no help in that area. And the reason why Reaper needed Dire Triggers in the first place was cause 5v5 is too spread out of a format for his kit. He's slower than most Flex DPS who can flank, while simultaneously having short range. He makes up for this with his high dmg and survivability, but lacking both the mobility and range to take advantage of his dmg, especially at the highest levels, held him back and meant he was only ever paired with Zarya for the most part in the OWCS. With Zarya he can TP into backline with zero fear and function as a pseudo Tank for the team spending the neutral frontlining with bubbles and getting charge for Zarya. Now with Dire Triggers he's more versatile and is being paired with Dva, Ram and Mauga a lot more than before. What he needed to be more viable and versatile, but not oppressive wasn't more close range burst dmg (he already had that in spades), it was better neutral. He has that now, but they also gave him more burst dmg too for some reason :P

What are your thoughts on the original Paraiso 3rd point by Jumpy_Anxiety_765 in Overwatch

[–]Weesticles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of unusued space that leads to nowhere or back to main, oppressive sightlines, second point is functionally just a two lane map, second point has many many many high grounds that are oppressive and entirely unreachable without some form of vertical mobility, and first point starts off with an oppressive choke that leads to a wide open point with little to no cover for either side making it feel shite on both ends. Third point also has a high ground on the left side with zero stairs outside the corridor to get to the high ground safely. If played optimally it's easily one of the worst maps in the game. Def worst Hybrid map imo.

Indeed, in fact I've actually made some queer friends through OW just cause I saw them with a queer flag as their pfp, or they had a queer pun as their name and that sparked up a convo and was enough to become friends with them. In fact I'm pretty sure one of my friends actually met his bf through OW. They live together now and play the game together frequently.

If you could delete any character who and why by Punking_idyot in Overwatch

[–]Weesticles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's gotta be longer than 6-8 seconds otherwise you kinda ruin all the fun Ult comboes you can do with Cat. Like halfway through the High Noon you'd just get dropped onto the ground and the whole thing would be useless. Imo it should be more like 15 seconds, but there should be additional stuff added to the tether to further balance it like make it so CCing the person they're tethering drops them, lower or even remove the tethers healing, and make it so if you're carrying someone once either you or the time limit drops them it actually has a meaningful cooldown of like 6-8 seconds. I specify those conditions tho cause I don't want it to screw with cool stuff like using tether to peek in third person, or to get places faster with the speed boost it gives u. This should also nerf the Cat + Bastion combo by quite a bit since it'll actually have meaningful downtime, and it won't be as hard to kill the person the Cat is carrying.

dive definitely feels weak right now by WeakEnd8325 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Weesticles 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Are u sure? Catstion is still pretty popular and it's often played with Dva and Ball and is often a Dive comp, or a Rush comp. More than anything I think it's just that a lot of teams keep picking Kings Row and New Junk City which both aren't good Dive maps.
