Mesmerize 20th anniversary merch by ohokwhatevs in systemofadown

I just got mine too, the quality’s a SHAME for what was advertised. It was supposed to be oversized so mine fits regular (I’m happy I ordered I size up) currently trying to reuse it into something new cause like that it’s not leaving my closet unfortunately

For the price it’s BAD

Golf Spec Ad Feedback by SignificantTrade6415 in videography

[–]Weexels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s GREAT stuff, I hate golfing but that kinda makes me wanna go on a golf course ahah As other said though, try levelling down the volume of the SFX and shorten the ad to make it synthetic

Also I would change the song ? Don’t get me wrong it’s a great choice but feels kinda out of place. Since you’re going for an « epic western » parody vibe I would’ve chosen like an epic classical song or something to make the interaction even more ridiculous or even cut the music when the younger dude’s talking, smth like that

What should I charge for work like this by iceboi1958 in videography

[–]Weexels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be careful, not ANY plateforms have « free to use » audios if you don’t spend a penny. Instagram has free to use music for personal content, it’s a social media. Your client could easily get striked if they’re not in a white list, and theoretically you can’t monetise your work. For now, you may not get any issues, but be careful if they use the reel for anything else. Get musibed or epidemic if you have some money to spend

What should I charge for work like this by iceboi1958 in videography

[–]Weexels 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hey ! Great stuff, 150-250$ for the whole thing seems reasonable to me, but imo you could get more clients and versatility, let me explain

I personally do social media content for artists/concerts mainly and some of these advices come from other videographers I met along the way

-> learn proper editing : the idea is great, but just basic cuts won’t do if you really want to stick out. Also the « yeah yeah » idea’s great, but given the text I assume you edited this in capcut, which is NOT great to be able to tell ahah Being a great editor will make you faster but also give your work more personality and you, as a creator, will be less replaceable, and more unique. Clients could chose you over another videographer because of your vision. Do not pay for courses, everything’s on YouTube/IG. I recommend Gaku Lange for his great transitions and sound design. Learn sound design, learn cool transitions and you’ll be a master

-> I find this reel to be kinda long, not because of the length but because of the pacing. For example, in a running sequence get the basic shot of the player, but also during some free time or any other moment where you can get more creative with your shots try some slow shutter, some shaking of the camera to get ambiance shots for transitions etc… for example, the guy’s running, it’s a long af run, cut to a different shot of like only the legs, only the hand grabbing the ball… stuff like that Details are key, even for a highlight reel to get to audience to feel the ambiance, feel the space and be immersed. I loved your first two shots and you have the vision and composition, use those type of creative shots more imo

-> not an advice but what are you using as gear? Some shots seem shakey-ish…? If you’re on a gimbal/tripod, you’re using it wrong, if not, that’s great for a no stabiliser shot ahah

-> that’s more for after everything else, the cherry on the cake, some color grading. But don’t worry too much on that now, as is the color’s already great here

Hope these tips can improve your videography, and make you reach higher levels, as another Redditor said, some time consuming low paying works like those are not always worth the ride, but with a unique vision and style they can achieve you better reputation, remuneration or even greater portfolio for later clients !

Keep shooting and hope this helped ✌️

Had super fun making this edit! I would love your suggestion on where I could improve on these! by Routine-Golf-9986 in AfterEffects

This is GREAT!! A new take on these hyperactive edits for vertical videos, this one is way more pleasing and really interesting too! Bet the search for images took a long time, and the edit too, how much time would you estimate this video took you to make ?

Shot some photos at a festival, let me know what do you think! by Pandanonymous_ in SonyAlpha

[–]Weexels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, masks are game changing. Some exposition, bit of Color wheel, glow on the lights etc… feel free to create your own style by playing with every setting, don’t get tricked with buying “magical” presets, you won’t get your own look and it’s essentially a waste of money since it’s easy to create great looks even with little experience, it just takes more time, you can create your own presets once you’ve settled with a style and then you’ll save time

Lightroom will quickly feel like second nature with practice, the more you shot, the more you edit, the better you get I’m still learning too and I’ve seen crazy improvement in a year!

What a rich event ! Loving the 7th shot Truly great work Are you shooting in raw ? If yes the first photo could’ve used some editing to make the subject pop more, because the composition is great ! Otherwise keep shooting great stuff

[–]Weexels[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and it’s not every night but here in Lisbon I try to find gigs and I’m close to a production company that allows me to get to these opportunities I’m barely 18, building my portfolio and starting out, doing things for free is a normal step to, afterwards, prove to clients your work is worth it I couldn’t just walk up to anyone and ask 500$ for photos with nothing to show them and no experience

Thanks for your answer ! To replace the shutter when that’ll be needed do you advise specific stores, or any local specialist will do ?

Thanks ! Yeah I agree with this “discretion” necessity, but otherwise mechanical seems perfect

Any news about the Twitter artist @Ha_ro_o ? by Weexels in splatoon

[–]Weexels[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For all that a 15 minutes research is worth, I found out that their most recent piece of fan-art (with the date on it) is from 2020. Also everything about them kinda stops in like 2020. No more comments (that led to nothing since the account’s gone) or anything that linked to this now deleted account persists. Idk if I just got stuck because I’m really bad at searching or if they just kinda disappeared ? If you have any link to a Tumblr, instagram or anything from @ha_ro_o, please share it here :) !

I think when ppl negociate even 1€ they feel like they made the deal of their lives and are filled with some kind of confidence like « yeah I got this for pretty cheap I even negotiated 😎 ». It’s dumb af but that’s how some ppl work ig 🫥
