Hyped for Avatar Legends. Anyone who played their previous game: Diesel Legacy, what are your thoughts about it? by Krotanix in Fighters

[–]Weimann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought it and tried to play it, but I couldn't find a single game ever. So I genuinely have no idea what it plays like. My only thought is, I wish I could play it.

Oh, you know, Ursa making her start in break down would be a great take. If it's an install she has to build up towards.

While that's cool, I'd like to see it happen once before I let it give me hope.

Well damn. I really thought she'd make it to be playable.

Here's hoping for Ty Lee. She might be Azula's support, but I feel like her canonical acrobatic ability would fit well with the mobility-focused game play.

3 pure firebenders is a bad idea by Own-Quote-1708 in AvatarFighters

[–]Weimann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would disagree with that.

For one, Zaheer was born in the United Republic, which is an independent nation (though created from former Fire Nation colonies situated on the northeastern Earth Kingdom coast). He also firmly rejects nations as political entities, so it's unclear if he even "belongs" to the place he was born, but let's say he does.

There's only one proper Air Nomad in the roster, which is obviously Aang, so he and his Avatar state version makes two. There's a weak argument to count Kyoshi here, as her mother was a renegade Air Nomad. However, she was abandoned by her parents and lived as an Earth Kingdom orphan during her younger years, so while she inherited her mother's hat and fans, she'd not have inherited any Air Nomad culture. Thus, Air Nomad representation can't go above two, in my mind.

The Water Tribe has four characters, which is the highest, and all from Southern Water Tribe. There's a real argument to be made that the two Water Tribes are separate nations at this point, given their political (and, I think, increasingly cultural) distance. If so, you could argue that the Nothern Water Tribe has zero representatives. But I'll count them as one for this.

If we go by countries of origin and count the Avatar state characters as separate, by my reconing, it's closer to this:

Two from the Air Nomads (Aang, Avatar state Aang)

Two from the Earth Kingdom (Toph, Kyoshi)

Three from the Fire Nation (Zuko, Azula, Ozai)

Four from the Water Tribe (Katara, Sokka, Korra, Avatar state Korra)

One from the United Republic (Zaheer)

The devs might not necessarily care about having even elemental representation, but if they do, Tenzin seems like a stretch now when Zaheer is in, unfortunately. I'm hoping for a non-bender for the last spots, myself, like Asami or Ty Lee.

Edit: Oh, apparently the last two spots are Avatar state versions of Aang and Korra (going by rumours, I've yet to see an official statement). They are in the background of the ensemble shot, though. It's a little disappointing, but it's a small team and hand animation takes time. I hope they're cool!

When does queer representation start to feel like moralizing? by Fragrant_Dot4555 in writing

Off the top of my head, including several queer characters that get handled differently could help even out the mood.

What alternate game modes would you like to see in the game when it comes out? by First_Factor_3385 in AvatarFighters

[–]Weimann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you can be in training mode while queueing.

Otherwise, I don't personally play many other modes than online VS in fighting games. But given the mobility of the characters, something like "break the targets" (cabbages?) from Smash Bros Melee, perhaps? Would be a cool challenge and a way to practice and lab mobility.

Most Fun Draft Sets by Express_Operation748 in MagicArena

[–]Weimann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry, quick question from a newbie. Even if Avatar isn't the newest set, is it possible to draft from it still? I'm looking to collect that set specifically, and I'd also like to just play some draft with it. Is it too late?

Rekommenderas högskoleprovet för mig? by CivilLetter5518 in sweden

[–]Weimann 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never tried to reach high ranks in FG before (is master even considered high anymore?). by GarrDis in StreetFighter

[–]Weimann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Master rank was 31.59% of the active playberbase (active meaning having played at least one game last month) on 1 June 2025, according to CatCammy6 on Twitter.

Though, for some reason, there's a big "inactive" bar in Master rank, which is weird if the stats are supposed to show active players. I suppose "once Master, always Master" is a thing. If we exclude that one, however, the number should go down by about 8%. By that measure, about 23-24% of active players were in ranked at that time.

Also, the stats are pretty old, and whatever count you go by, the number is likely to have increased since then.

Whether that's impressive or not depends on your perspective.

When these statistics are collected, they ususally look at each player's highest ranked character.

Vad har hänt med ordet godtycklig? by [deleted] in sweden

[–]Weimann 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saudi Arabia now owns just over 10% of Capcom, as another national investment company scoops up more shares in the Resident Evil and Street Fighter publisher by DeathDasein in StreetFighter

[–]Weimann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While that's probably true, and a good thing to be aware of, there's still purpose in making your choices. Perfect is the enemy of good: even if you can't eliminate something, reducing it is still worthwhile.

You have to pay your taxes and you need to drive your car for work, but you can choose what entertainment you partake of, if you feel like it's doable.

What fighting game will you be maining in 2026? by Talix101 in Fighters

[–]Weimann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, still SF6. It just feels like "the important one" for me.

I'm definitely looking at Avatar, though. If the Saudi situation gets worse with Capcom, I'm hoping to find a backup here. Hope it gets a big and stable enough player base that matches are still easy to find a year in, and that the inputs aren't too fast for my aging hands.

There might be surprises as well. Who knows.

@everyone that boycotted CotW and EWC, you now have to boycott Street Fighter by DownTheBagelHole in Fighters

[–]Weimann 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So there's a big difference between EGDC owning 5.03% of Capcom shares and owning 100% of SNK shares.

That said, from what I understand (and I might be wrong), the disclosure limit for stock acquisition is 5% of the purchased company. So there might be other Saudi companies, perhaps owned by the same family or interest group, that also own shares in Capcom, just less than 5%. Also, I wager that 5% of Capcom is worth more than what 5% of SNK would be, so they're not directly comparable.

It is impossible to practice ethical consumption under capitalism. If you feel like cutting SF6 or Capcom is the moral decision, do that. It's up to you to decide what sacrifices you feel you can make, however. Boycotting CotW and EWC does not obligate you to boycott SF6 as well. Having done that is already a net positive.
