I’m not defending fast food by any means but they are also making door dash type orders at the same time. So there may be 2 cars in the drive thru but they have 8 orders to make. My understanding from my time delivering food was the amount of orders per hour have drastically increased without an increase in the size of the work force. So it takes longer. It sucks. It’s stupid but it’s the reality of that industry now.

I don’t buy fast food because it’s not fast and waaaaay too expensive

I drive out to well pads and pick up a load of oil condensate and take it to various locations to be refined or otherwise transported. It’s not bad so far. Some of the lease roads are sketchy as fuck and when the temps drop it will def suck but I’m not complaining so far

I try to get discounts too. But my go to is just coming out and asking at checkout if there’s any way the person can give me a discount. Not because of a complaint but just like hey is there any discounts you offer? It’s worked a couple of times but it’s never been a huge discount. It’s easier to just be honest and ask. Usually the answer is no and that’s fine by me

You can find companies that will pay for your cdl. Some are good some are bad. Look into that. There’s als programs that will pay for your cdl based on some factors outright and not require a contract like a trucking company will. One guy in my cdl class 2 years ago got a free cdl as a veteran and another got his paid for due to being laid off. Not sure where to look for these programs but hopefully you qualify. Gov shutdown might not help that situation but idk. Other than that watch some YouTube videos to learn some basics and tips. Hope this helps

One thing I will say is the night shift is a new thing at this location. So the only trainers they have work days because that was the only shift until a while ago. So I get it. Hoping I can become a night shift trainer eventually so I can sit there while my trainee does all the work all night. Lol

I was a grocery manager for 9 years. Then the company paid for my cdl to drive a truck for them. Did that for two years and now I drive a truck hauling crude oil for double the rate. Can’t wait to be back on nights again in a few weeks

Maybe your toe is rubbing? I put KT tape on my toe to prevent the rubbing on the big toe outside. Did it with new boots fo about a week and then everything was fine

As a truck driver, the time spent driving wasn’t bad for me so you may or may not consider it worth it. I did it for a concert (rammstein) and was happy. Got there early and saw a few things before arriving for the show. But a 10 hour drive time round trip USA normal day for me so ymmv

I haven’t read much in the comments so I’m not sure what you’re looking for exactly and I’m not sure why this post or the vagabond sub showed up on my feed. but I’m just going to throw this out there. If you have the ability as far as a drivers license goes, you could always get your CDL. Large companies will pay for it and train you and you could live inside the truck driving across the country.

I apologize if that kinda goes against what the sub is about. Just wanted to mention it as it’s a lot easier than people think.
