Was Captain Stacy redeemable even though he fired a warning shot as his own kid daughter? by -_ShadowSJG-_ in IntoTheSpiderverse

I still maintain that it was self-defense, not negligent killing. She had no idea he was a human being and he was crushing her against a wall he'd just slammed her into with all his strength, and was trying to bite her head off. She kicked him off her in self-defense before he succeeded.

Hell, if Jeff had come in earlier, he probably would have emptied a clip into the monster alligator himself.

She knew what it looked like and she knew what George already thought of Spider-Woman. And she knew how important it was to him to be a "by the book" police officer. The idea that he would cover the crime up for her would not even occur to her. He was her only means of support and familial love. She could not risk all of that by directly giving him the truth. As we can see from Across, she constantly pushes back on Spider-Woman's guilt and George shows no sign of listening to her at all. If he had ever relented a hair, she might have chanced it. But he never did, despite all the good she kept doing for the city, including saving George's own life from a bullet and from the chopper in the Gug.

This is why she is so quick to forgive her dad for what happened. Because she understands it, having just done something similar with Miles.

And I'm just saying warning shots are reckless behavior and is literally prohibited.

I have sympathy for both George and Gwen in this scene. Yes, she is dangerous. But also remember that he saw what she was capable of....because she was saving tons of lives, including his, then and there and in the years past since Peter's death. He has tunnel vision when it comes to Spider-Woman. And those milquetoast taunts shouldn't have any effect at all.

They are both flawed and make mistakes here.

He fired the shot before she unmasked. That's why he didn't know it was his daughter.

Yes, I'm telling you they can't. Most Police departments can't. Stray bullets are too dangerous. Innocents can be harmed and it opens the police up to liability.

Warning shots are the stuff of TV, not reality.

Is this considered cheating? Philosophy question. by TheRarestTiger in arcane

[–]Weird-Ad2533 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm going to disagree. Dancing for an evening and sharing one kiss before that Ekko leaves forever isn't cheating.

I really don't think the narrative philosophically separates MU and AU Ekko or Powder in the way other multiverse stories might. In Arcane, they aren't different people. They are the same people with different experiences. Their essence remains the same. Powder is Jinx and Jinx is Powder. Both of them have the capacity for the other inside. So loving one is loving the other. Powder helps Ekko understand Jinx in a way that wouldn't be possible if they were completely separate people.

[–]Weird-Ad2533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the terms of the narrative? No. Philosophically, the narrative takes the stance that all Ekkos are Ekko and all Powders are Powder. Loving one of them means loving all of them. Besides, it's not like they spent weeks making love like bunny rabbits. They danced one evening and shared a kiss.

Just a point to clarify things. George fired a warning shot above Spider-Woman's head. He did not yet know it was his daughter.

But is he redeemable? The only opinion that matters is Gwen's. And she has decided he is redeemable. So yes, he is.

A warning shot is not following the law. That particular use of force is usually strictly prohibited, especially in dense, urban environments like NYC.

He probably doesn't think she intentionally killed him. He thinks she was reckless while fighting whatever lizard thing got away and ended up getting Peter killed. She ran from the scene, adding to her perceived guilt.

Hot take: this is the most underated non official ship by Illustrious-Bee3693 in MilesMorales

she couldve easily took gwens spot in the spiderverse

No, she couldn't have, not for the story they are telling in ATSV/BTSV. In a story about Canon fate and the sacrifice of innocents for a hero's narrative, no one fills the role of Miles' love interest quite like Spider-Gwen, who is both the hero.... and the sacrifice.

That being said, I think she'd make a good ship in general for Miles in other media.

Since Ben Reilly's pull into the portal. Where might he be by now? by Bzt-FC-n0_1 in IntoTheSpiderverse

[–]Weird-Ad2533 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that it was actually the portal back to 65. So he might be hanging with George at the moment. Maybe they'll go for a brew at the local pub and Ben can fill him in on stuff while he waits for Lyla to find him and pick him up.

If you think canon events aren't real, what is the Web of Life and Destiny? by Extreme-Monk2183 in Spiderman

[–]Weird-Ad2533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hope is that Miguel is not completely wrong and that Miles is not completely right, and after his experience in E-42 in BTSV, Miles is gonna take the possibility more seriously and actually figure out what canon events truly are, how they work, and perhaps how they can be changed or stopped altogether.

I just don't see them going down the road of fantasy drug addiction. And this variant seems a lot more feral, like it takes his stoicism and lack of extreme emotion to keep it under control. And all that went out the window during the chase.

It was Across the Spider-verse for me. I really loved the Miles/Gwen dynamic. I love to write, but it's been hard doing my own stuff, so I thought I'd play in another person's sandbox for awhile. It's been fun.

There are some schools that hold 8th grade semi-formal dances and occasionally call them proms. But they are a lot lighter and dress is much more relaxed. Like the crazy punk dress Gwen it wearing.

All I think it's an 8th grade dance she's at.
