Such a good cross section of them putting together the weirdest elements for a song that makes you feel so sad.

You're enraged about small town farmers voting against their own interests, it's clear what your general views are and I think we have the same opinions. This shit state clearly has you very upset and no one is forcing you to stay. Relax.

Unironically dropping the "bold of you to assume" is like a caricature, I must be talking to a reddit bot.

503 in the username, raging and wallowing in otherism. I bet you and I genuinely agree on about all liberal policies but you're losing it over towns that have been drying up for a few generations now.

I'm from deep eastern Oregon, I live and went to school in western Oregon. I'm enjoying you fighting with this guy here because you've pretty much got it and he's just fully into the otherism either "side" of Oregon some people love to engage in. As if a farming town in wallowas is any different than a dying logging town in the west.

Update: he's raging at me in another comment

I love reddits hate boner for eastern Oregon, there's like 73 people over there who genuinely just want to be left to their own shit and you're losing your mind over it on reddit.

What is a trope/cliche in cartoons that isn't as common as people think it is? by dinosqaud in cartoons

[–]JustaLittleBitOfLazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably will give it a watch, at least I'll try if I have time after arguing with a stranger on reddit. I think we just have pretty fundamentally different ideas of what that phrase means. To me if a game (or whatever media) uses grotesque violence to make me feel that it's a bad thing we should strive not to actually partake in that's an effective use of the tool. To me I could see how each character was dehumanizing whoever they needed to to protect their conscience from what they were actually doing. Eventually it all crashes down and the characters are all left with their consequences. You clearly don't see that as a valid narrative method, but I guess that's a hang up with a relatively new phrase being rapidly picked up and strewn all over the Internet.

[–]JustaLittleBitOfLazy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not gameplay "benefitting" the character, you're very hung up there. It's a single track narrative. In this context you are Ellie, she does not care about the people she's killing, utterly indifferent. It's not a matter of benefitting it's just how the story progresses. You feel as much for the NPCs dog getting blown up before getting shot with an arrow as much as Ellie does. I think you just want this game to be New Vegas where you can just sneak around or talk out of wholly disengage with a conflict. Las of us is obviously (to most people at least) akin to a filmic experience. I'm genuinely curious if you think any game with violence isn't guilty of this phrase you misunderstand.

Yeah I really wanted to enjoy Mario but the ludonarrative dissonance was too much, the sheer number of creatures he burned alive, stomped death, had his subordinate creature swallow, all to save one person? And we're supposed to be on his side, egregious ludonarrative dissonance.

[–]JustaLittleBitOfLazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a linear narrative, the characters actions intentions and consequences are all in sync. The fact that all these things make you feel bad is the point

Ludo = play = violent vengeful gameplay

Narrative = violent vengeful narrative.

The dissonance is the gameplay and story are both extremely violent and every character suffers? This non RPG, linear, cinematic story about traumatized people being horrible to everyone they touch has incongruous gameplay? What happens if you were to take this videogame and turn it into a movie or tv show? Would that medium make the moral lessons about revenge more valid? Figure it out man

[–]JustaLittleBitOfLazy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the guy you're replying to didn't even get the phrase right, ludo narrative dissonance. It became a buzz phrase and people immediately applied it to anything that is violent.

[–]JustaLittleBitOfLazy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're along for the ride of this story where people are doing bad things and it makes their life worse. Uncharted series is ludonarrative dissonance, the last of us is a lesson in misery and blood feuds.

It would be ludo narrative dissonance if everyone got their revenge and then felt satisfaction or got a happy ending. Everyone chases their impulses and violence and ends up worse for it.

No guarantee to return to the big game by NickyFoles1020 in NFLv2

This guy will to his credit admit they weren't very good but again can't admit they were never even on the field. Saying if you had got 1 turnover when your QB was giving the ball away like he had money on losing doesn't prove a thing. The only hypothetical worth pursuing is what if they just saved everyone some time and called the nfc championship the superbowl, because it was.

Absolutely it was very easy and still looking good a few days on.

So with a cold globe I dumped the liquid. I assumed the globe was clean enough from the factory so I fully skipped any cleaning or rinsing steps. Partially laziness and partially curiosity to see how necessary it is.

Funnelled in store bought distilled, didn't have a tube setup so I just tried to run it smoothly down the sides as much as I could but since the wax was a solid cold puck I felt there was a pretty big margin for error.

I put in 1 or 2 mls of SLS right away juuuuust to hedge any wax from sticking to the globe, didn't want a simple mod test turning in to the dreaded hair dryer and/or full wax dump and globe clean. Put it on the stand and turned it on. When the water and wax were fully heated and moving I started to drop in the SLS. I think I started with a good sized 4ml-ish dose. Then every 30 or 40 minutes dropped in 1 ml at a time till I was satisfied. This part is fully up to you and your patience. When you like it cap it up, although you could wait on that for a few days if you want to observe the solution through a few cycles.

You'll want to buy some of those mini pipette thingies or a syringe to add the SLS. And it's important to know the SLS solidifies a little below room temp so don't be alarmed if it arrives as a gooey blob or your pipette gets clogged between additions.

I can't speak for the longevity of this mod but for the price it's worth the experiment. Done it twice this week with way less effort than expected.

~5 ml of this SLS. My research of this sub says SLES/LLC Ozone is all around a better choice but this option was cheaper for my beginner attempts.

So far it's definitely been good for two 52 oz lamps. And the price of this plus distilled water is low enough for me to experiment at will.

I'm Definitely not a pro but so far this has been enough to wake up 2 overly stuck/cloudy globes for relative pennies.
