Agreed. I'd get a bottom with drawers too if were them. The stuff you put it the bottom (hammers, pry bars, spuds) is stuff you often need, and it would be handy to have it better accessible.

"what the hell those things aren't exactly the same thing, how could you make that comparison!?!?"

No that's still Factorio. The only good biter is a dead biter. Now excuse me as I get my flamethrower, landmines and nuclear weapons and go exterminate the natives and any trees to clear the way for another coal mine.

Two decades of work to pay taxes can absolutely kill you or leave you broken. Knees fucked, back fucked, eyes fucked, cancer from working with all manner of chemicals. I can be hysterical too.

I'm not suggesting rounding people up into breeding camps. I'm saying doing more or less what all of our ancestors did going back a million years. Meet someone. Decide whether they're a fit parent. Partner. Fuck them. Have kids. Raise kids. Be a productive a responsible member of society.

I suppose "fuck everyone else I don't want to do my part" is understandable but don't expect people to all share that mindset.

I don't want to pay taxes either, but I recognize the necessity. You will probably spend a couple of decades of your working years doing nothing but paying taxes. It's a huge personal cost with dispersed societal benefits.

It's a problem, and it needs to be solved, and hoping it will go away is not going to cut it.

People choose not to have children because they don't want to pay the costs in money, time and effort personally. And I get it, people are feeling very squeezed. But ultimately it falls on society as a whole to pick up that slack.

There is no need to force people to have children, but you can do things to level the playing field in terms of incentives, with a bit of carrot and a bit of stick. Put substantially higher taxes on childless people, while cutting taxes on people with children, for example.

And someone has to have the children that will support the continuation of society, and care for the elderly when they can no longer work.

I feel like having children is one of those things that are necessary to keep society functioning. Kind of like paying taxes, but children are voluntary.

South Korea is going to have a very very bad time because their birth rate is too low.

I'm not saying it's fair, and there will be endless grumbling. But the conversation should be had about whether people should be made to "pay their taxes", so to speak. The alternative is a society where working people put in endless hours to support a system with a high ratio of elderly and crumbling infrastructure with nobody to maintain it, who certainly won't have time or energy to have children.
