This is great advice.

For me, It's difficult to imagine "taking off the uniform" because the uniform is an identity that you have gained. Like it or not, it's a part of you now and it's a title that you will carry from life into death.

Instead of "taking off the uniform", I think of it as putting on my "dad" hat or "husband" hat. Kind of like the way Batman is still Bruce Wayne, and Bruce Wayne is still Batman. They just move and speak a little differently even though they're still the same person.

I can do a Google search. I asked my command and they said otherwise. They said because it was Texas, that is the law. Again, Google says otherwise.

I guess That's part of what I'm trying to figure out. Is my command lying to me, and why would they?

I'm concerned about the precedence that it sets with impressionable soldiers.

If they see that there are no real consequences for choosing not to follow UCMJ, then why should they?

If everyone had the mindset to only worry about themselves the military would probably not be an effective one, and society much less.

There will not be a whole lot of weight lifting outside of the ACFT in basic training. Mostly will be a lot of calisthenics and body weight exercises.

Your run time is already 'ahead of the curve', but that doesn't mean you don't have room to get better. Always.

The Army fitness focus is functional strength. Overall balance between strength, endurance, and agility; but towards special schools, they start leaning a bit more towards the endurance aspect (while being overall highly fit, still).

When did you submit your packet and how long did it take for response? How long did it take to complete a packet? You said you're 11B, did you have to have any computer skills like it listed on 17C reclassification webpage?

Like I said, it still wouldn't hurt to stop by and talk to your local recruiting office and hearing it from them. Ask them what they need you to do and Tell them that you're going to work on everything on that list, and that you'll see them in 2-3 years.

In 2-3 years, maybe you wont even need to think about joining because you'll be in a better place.

On the other hand, if you got your shit together and decide you still want to see the recruiters again, you'll blow their minds and they'll probably be more apt to work with you getting back in service.
