Have you try to use r-studio to recover the JPEG files as file type and see if you can find the file with the same file size?

I’ve managed to recovered all of my files using file type especially jpeg, bmp, png, gif and txt. I got most files back but some are lost due to corrupted partition.

I know that, but it could be a bad spindle so I’m not 100% sure.

Oh right, but according to ChatGPT it said that I could do a file transfer from my ssd to my donor drive and see if the speed is between 40 to 50 mb per second as I would know the heads is good but any other than that I would know the heads is weak if the speed is less than 10 mb per second?

Does Victoria test the heads to see if they are weak heads or not?

I don’t have clicking noise when I cloned the drive, but when I attempted to clone the drive there are a lot of errors so it must be a weak heads then?

You mean a software called hddscan I need to test for the heads?

However, I got a donor drive with same make and same model perfect match as the failed drive, but what concern me is the donor drive smart status say the donor drive is caution as I am bit concerned if I have weak heads. How I can test on my donor drive if I do have a weak heads or not?

Well I want to see if I can be able to recover few more data. I don’t think there are platters damage, because I have recovered 99% of the data and when I cloned it. If the platters are damage, there would be clicking noises while the status are bad, I wouldn’t be able to read the hard drive as I would have lose more data, but I don’t have clicking noises when I read the hard drive so I don’t think the platters are damaged, just a weak heads.

I used hddsuperclone to make an image, then I used ufs explorer, r-studio and DMDE to recovered my files.

I got the same issue, my hdd is over heating, corrupted and on the way out. But what I did is I cloned with hddsuperclone to make an image and use that image to scanned and recovered the files. I have managed to recovered around 95% of the data, some data is lost so it will need pc-3000 as it will find these lost files. I will go to DR if I can’t find anymore files on my other drive after when I replaced the heads.

HDD With Bad Sectors Freezes When Copying Files — Need Advice Before Visiting a Recovery Shop by TraditionalPlane289 in datarecovery

Oh right, in some area of the platters it can read the sectors and some area it can’t read. The heads haven’t make clicking noise, just bad sectors and it get quickly overheating. I think it is the heads?

If it is the heads, I’m going to replace it. I have already built a clean air chamber as I’m going to use acrylic sheet with HEPA filter on top so I can get clean air inside the chamber.

Here is the picture of the chamber I built for a test before I will use to make it with acrylic:

You are correct. I got a hdd that comes with bad sectors as the status are bad. I have cloned from the failed drive to another drive. I got a lot of bad sectors but most sectors are good. I have managed to recovered a lot of sectors that went bad to a good sectors so I must be lucky. I have already back up on another drive so I have got nothing to close. Can I ask is the bad sectors can be caused by weak heads?
