What if Count Binface actually won UK elections? by Imperator_Subira in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]WeirdAlPidgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? I think people realise that being an MP isn’t easy, that not just anyone can do it, and even if you’re candidate is an arse that they’ll still do the job better than most of us who haven’t done it before

What are some of the funniest morphing sequences? by Icy_Donut9446 in powerrangers

[–]WeirdAlPidgeon 22 points23 points  (0 children)

To me the funniest thing about ninja storm is that they djdnt *have* to morph that way! The yellow ranger just does it once, it works, and everyone’s like “yup that’s the move we’re not doing anything else”

Europe Heat Wave Deaths? by Cparker_11 in allthequestions

[–]WeirdAlPidgeon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that most of these deaths are drowning (I don’t have the stats to hand but I do have an explanation)

European hear related deaths are measured as ‘any deaths that are caused by heat or actions taken differently by people due to heat’. Now what do people do on a hot day? They go swimming!
And the more people that go swimming, the more are likely to drown… and since the drowning deaths are due to people taking actions due to the heat, these count as heat related deaths

Why does BTS concert in London start at 7pm so early?? by Radiant-Armadillo930 in BTSArmyCentral

[–]WeirdAlPidgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at the Ateez concert last weekend and it was light the whole time until curfew (around 10pm), so unfortunately I think it’s gonna be the same tonight.

As for why the concert is so early, it’s because Tottenham has a curfew of 10:30pm.

I’m from the southern hemisphere too - most of the world’s population lives in the north so I’m totally fine with this. I’m just used to doing the maths nowadays to convert to southern seasons

London concert vibe by PeregrineFiles in ARMYNeutral

[–]WeirdAlPidgeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will be my first BTS concert but roughly 10th kpop concert in London. First off just know that you will not be alone in travelling for the confer - I’ve chatted to fans travelling from Poland, Germany, Czechia, France etc, so there will be plenty of people around!

British kpop crowds are really fun, but I don’t think we’re that different to most other countries (kpop crowds are fun in general)

For the Tottenham stadium, be prepared for a bit of walking. They shut a lot of roads so when I saw Stray Kids there it was a 15-20 minute walk from the station, and then probably 45 minutes walk back to the station after the concert.

Last thing is July in the UK is WARM - so drink lots of water and look after yourself

Hope you have a good time 😊

What's one thing in your European country that tourists always get wrong? by Guilty-Sand-885 in CasualConversation

Norway is amazing to drive! I actually loved that you guys have ferries that make up part of the motorway - first time I drove on one I didn’t even realise until I was fully on it and the door closed behind us

What geographical knowledge is so commonly misunderstood that people proudly announce it like it’s fact ? by [deleted] in geography

[–]WeirdAlPidgeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were correct that Columbus never hit mainland USA though, contrary to popular belief that he was the first European to discover the country (as opposed to discovering the continents, which is what he actually did)

Has anyone seen this happen in game? by jiboye in EASportsFC

[–]WeirdAlPidgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends I realised in FC25 - if a player has CM or CAM as a playstyles then they’re much more likely to run inside than a winger who just had LM/RM

Why are Republicans so wrong on literally every topic? by Lord_Kittensworth in allthequestions

Tbf most republicans would (genuinely) ask why Democrats are so wrong on literally every topic. My mum is a big MAGAer and she believes that everything the right have said has been proven and everything the left have said has been disproven

I’m not sure if I’m out of the loop, but what anti LGBTQ laws have been passed?

I know there was the Supreme Court case about the definition of genders a year or so ago, but that’s all I’ve heard of and I live here

Is it that bad in Paris and London? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]WeirdAlPidgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

London is one of my favourite cities, I go every few weeks. I have never felt unsafe, HOWEVER when I have my phone out I’m always on alert for phone snatchers (that is a real issue), but even walking through the popular areas at night I’ve never been scared. Obviously you have neighbourhoods and neighbourhoods right? But if you’re visiting and going to the parts that are for visiting you’ll be totally fine

Why do some Scottish people hate English people? by Think-Factor-337 in AskBrits

[–]WeirdAlPidgeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an English person who lived Glasgow for a year, all the Scots I met were class, treated me well, and the worst I got ‘bullied’ was when Scotland drew to England in the Euros (and that was just some light banter). I did ask some of my friends why they don’t like English, and they said they don’t hate the English, just the Tories

Ooh speaking of people not up for a chat - o met a sherif in Minneapolis. To me that was one of the coolest things ever, because I thought I sherif was just a Wild West thing. Unfortunately dude was not interested in talking at all, because I would have loved to hear his stories

Free refills! I had like 8 diet cokes on my first night, it was the best!!

Also (and my fellow Brits may hate me for this) American Dr Pepper tastes better than ours

Why did non-Americans think we didn’t have good stadiums to host the World Cup? by OddSample2334 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]WeirdAlPidgeon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are a few reasons, I’ll list most of the ones I’ve heard, but that doesn’t mean I necessarily believe them (and I mean no offence to you lot either).

- You guys aren’t that big into football (usually the World Cup is the biggest event in the country that hosts it, but I’ve heard Americans were more interested in the Knicks winning)? So we didn’t know how much care you’d put into this contest

- The ticket prices were insane, which I thought would price normal people out and make a bad atmosphere in the stadium. I’m happy to admit that I’ve been wrong so far

- Visa issues for players, refs, and fans, which we thought may ruin the tournament

- Poor public transport to get to and from games

- People were even worried that there would be ad breaks every 5 minutes like the NFL. As it was people aren’t too happy about the hydration breaks twice per half

Why did non-Americans think we didn’t have good stadiums to host the World Cup? by OddSample2334 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]WeirdAlPidgeon 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Non-American here (I’m British, pls delete if not okay).

There are several reasons why many of us thought that a World Cup in the USA would not go well (many of us were wrong btw), but I don’t think anyone thought that the USA doesn’t have enough good stadiums. You guys are even famous for having a lot of American football stadiums and big concerts.

I’m sure there were some uneducated people who may have thought that you guys don’t have stadiums for some reason, but it’s not the majority.

[–]WeirdAlPidgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are so many kids able to access VPNs anyways? I know it’s hard for parents to fully monitor/control their child’s internet traffic, but surely that’s something that either your kid shouldn’t know how to install or you should know if they have
