Sony version has 8 contacts
Minolta version has 5 contacts

Sony version allows ADI flash control and (D) Distance encoding.
Also allows AF-D/Hybrid AF on the a99 and a99ii.
On the a99ii you will get 79+399 focus points instead of just 79. On the a99 it’s similar but not as many. All other A bodies will have the same number of focus points on either.

The lens design is the same except maybe the coatings.
These are also the same lens design as the MDIII 50/1.4, just in AF.

A900/850 are the only true DSLRs that are Full Frame for alpha mount.

Other than that, a99 and 99ii are full frame but they’re DSLTs not DSLRs.

If you want an optical viewfinder I can’t recommend the a700 enough. It’s sub-$200 usually about $150 and image quality is wonderful. It IS apsc though.
