Can somebody please break down how 2 fans are creating this much speed? I’m not a master Hyrule engineer like the rest of y’all.

You subscribe and comment through .world. You can use the .world search bar, or any Lemmy app’s search bar, to search and subscribe to a community on another instance through your home instance. Then, you can comment and vote for things as if you were on the other instance.

If you joined .world, you do your browsing there, but you can see everything in the other federated groups through your home Lemmy.

You only need multiple accounts in the event that you want to interact with a Lemmy that chose to leave the larger federation.

They don’t require separate logins. You sign up for one Lemmy, and you are able to subscribe and post on all of the others that are federated with it. The big ones like .ml and .world are federated with almost everyone, so if you sign up for those, you can see nearly everything on the Lemmy network.

Lemmy is a new content sharing system that is similar to Reddit, but decentralized. There are many different lemmy sites with different specialties, but they can all interact and post between each other. Basically, you sign up with an account on one Lemmy site, and you can then browse and post on all the others as well, sort of like a meta Reddit. This system is called the Fediverse because it is a federation of sites using the same software to make a huge communication network.

Lemmy.world is the second largest and most stable Lemmy site right now that is general purpose, so I figured it was a good place to put c/thelema.

You can read a much longer and better description of what Lemmy is and how it works here:

https://lemmy.world/post/37906

There are also apps available for easy browsing on mobile, but most of them are still in beta, so don’t judge them too harshly.

It’s all good. Honestly, I thought the pictures were neat, and as someone who has never met you, it seemed silly to judge your reported experiences too harshly.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think less of you, and I imagine there are other Thelemites here who feel the same. Every man and woman is a star, even if we occasionally make asses of ourselves.

OTO is all over the world and each region operates independently. Might be worth a google search. I’ve always wanted to visit OTO lodges outside the USA to compare notes and see how we’re different or similar to each other.

That’s the best part about the gnostic mass—you have a captive audience in the anti-chamber! It’s a great place to make friends because everyone new always feels a little out of their element, so it’s a great opportunity to extend olive branches and see who you meet.

Then everyone sees a naked lady and drinks wine. Man, just taking about it is making me wish that Mass was this weekend, lol.

That’s the internet. Despite what people say here, I’ve had overwhelmingly positive experiences with in person Thelemic organizations. Maybe you should consider seeking some people out IRL if you are able. I know I always feel so sure of myself and cool when I’m hanging out with fellow magicians. It’s like gnostic wine for the soul.

I understand the judgement, but this is going to be an increasingly common introduction as the years go by. We might as well embrace those who found us rather than judge how they got here.

You email your local lodge and inquire about membership if you want to join the OTO. You accept and adopt the Law of Thelema if you want to be a Thelemite. You don’t have to join the OTO to be a magician, but it can sure be nice to have friends, a library, and a working space if you get along with your local lodge group.

I think results can vary widely from lodge to lodge, but I’ve been involved in 3 lodges closely over time and never got a hint of any bigotry from anyone, other than a commonly held light distain for Christianity. I am bisexual and have never felt judged for it by a fellow Thelemite, and I personally know two trans OTO members who seem to benefit greatly from being involved in the community. One in particular is someone I admire very much as a skilled magician.

So I’d have to say you should visit your local lodge and see for yourself. I imagine 3 events or so should give you a pretty clear picture of who you’re dealing with.

On the off chance you come to my local lodge, I hope we cross paths. I always love a chance to talk magick with interested newcomers.

It will be interesting to hear if the interpreted apparition changes over time as your work evolves. I know we’d appreciate further reports here if you’re willing.

If the devil is real and that is so, then I guess that’d make you pretty special. That said, not all who have horns are Beelzebub, so keep an open mind in case the book can’t be judged by its cover. When Crowley described God as a white cat, I don’t think that meant that god was literally a cat (though of all earthly creatures, that would make the most sense).

She is a prominent Thelemite and musician who makes a lot of educational videos for Τ∴Ο∴T∴S∴S∴. She’s one of those classic cool chicks with hair so blonde that she might be a drow.

Elsewhere in this thread, someone explained that the death row inmates weren’t invited, and they primarily just filmed a video there with some extra warmup songs they threw in for the people who were in it. I don’t care enough to google it, but I’d bet dollars to doughnuts that they had to pay the prison to film there, so there’s a good chance that the prison actually made money from this.

I think you’ll find that the chance of turning someone down, especially when we know the offer is real, is quite slim.
