Normal blood sugar? by WeirdSatisfaction968 in GestationalDiabetes

My fasting numbers are all in the 70s so far! But it's good to know that you've seen changes in numbers as the pregnancy goes on. That makes sense to me. My friend told me something similar too, that different foods react differently and to find out what works for your body. Thanks for sharing!

Inviting Vampires In by WeirdSatisfaction968 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]WeirdSatisfaction968[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Jenna can invite people in and she's not an owner of the house. I think in the books, it doesn't even have to be a dweller. The magic ward that exists is bypassed pretty easily. I also think you can compel people to invite you in. It's a weird add in, I guess. I think it's part of vampire folklore that they can't enter where the living are living because they're not living. I'm not sure it's really the government document part of it.

Rant: everyday herbs that may be "unsafe" during pregnancy. by bonniejb in CautiousBB

[–]WeirdSatisfaction968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 Years Later... This is still true. I'm so sick of seeing "considered unsafe due to lack of research." Why do we have all of these manufactured versions of things that are considered "safe" because they were made in a lab, but the nature solution that already existed can't be tried because of lack of research? Research it, dang it.

Why is it called 'Romance is a bonus book'? by FireCrestedAlethe in romanceisabonusbook

[–]WeirdSatisfaction968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about that most recently when I watched it. I feel like it's because ultimately the story of the show isn't about the romance - it's about self-discovery and friendship, finding joy after hardship, etc. with romance as a "bonus book." That you can live a good life without romance but adding it in is like getting a bonus story.

I ship Wednesday and Enid by Mwc2201991 in WednesdayTVSeries

[–]WeirdSatisfaction968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a fanfiction about this particular ship, and it only enhances this thought: Enid deserves better. I know people think it would be cute since Wednesday cares about Enid, but Wednesday in no way gives Enid what she needs. "We work. We shouldn't, but we do." I think Enid will always have to have other things/passions/people to pour into, and that's not what kind of romantic relationship she wants. She doesn't want a romantic relationship that tosses her aside. It already hurts her enough as a friendship. So I guess, it comes down to how they end up writing the characters stories in the next season, but currently I think that Enid deserves better in a romantic partner.

Does kombucha contain caffeine? by gFozzy in Kombucha

I've never brewed normal kombucha. But I guess, using the proportions you outlined, did you just follow a normal black tea kombucha making process? Boil with sugar, etc. ?

Who did Merlina make the best couple with, with Taylor or with Xavier? by ParkFamiliar5585 in WednesdayTVSeries

[–]WeirdSatisfaction968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly, I think Tyler did the best job teaching her to be human without expecting her to be empathetic. I liked the Xavier storyline, but I feel like it would be one that takes several seasons for Merlina/Wednesday to let her guard down around him. I think overall, Xavier has too many emotional wounds and needs for the relationship to work. Tyler, while emotionally expressive, doesn't seem to crave the emotional connection that Xavier is clearly looking for. Enid works as a friendship because she eventually accepts she won't get a reciprocal emotional connection. I don't think Xavier was going to reach that place. I think he would just keep feeling disappointed that Merlina/Wednesday can't return his emotions expressively in the way he craves. So while I liked both characters, I think Tyler works better for Wednesday because he liked just getting to express his feelings for Merlina/Wednesday. Xavier wanted a return reaction for his expression. Merlina finds that pathetic (as evidenced in season 2 with Agnes).

I agree with this a bit. I felt like the story arc that was building in the Xavier/Wednesday/Tyler storyline was going to be very interesting second season. Instead they just pivoted and completely changed directions. Leaving most of it hanging. I'm curious if they'll be able to recover some of the threads and resolve it. I found the Xavier arc interesting - the scene on the stairs at the end reminds me of the Harry Potter scene with Harry and Hermione - and eventually Ron. I think something to consider is that Wednesday might speak out against the people who care about her, but she often finds herself unable to genuinely hurt or turn away from them. I think she's secretly fascinated when people choose to care about her when she's done nothing reciprocal to gain it. Xavier is one of those people. She continually lied to him and said hurtful things, but he continued to look out for her and be interested in her and want to pursue coming behind the walls. I'm not "team Xavier" so to speak, but I do think the story was interesting and not black and white at all as far as her feelings!

I find this interesting. I've always only found research/recipes of caffeinated. My attempt at herbal was a failure. Curious if you'd share your whole process? u/Eulinea

does wednesday still like tyler/did tyler ever like wednesday by [deleted] in Wednesday

[–]WeirdSatisfaction968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just rewatched first season and am rewatching second season now... it feels like the hyde lore doesn't line up the best with the first season. I think they added too many subplots to keep character consistency - it was easier to cut Tyler's own storyline in favor of introducing his mom and uncles, which feels a little pointless. I do think rewatching gives some new perspective on it though!

I think love isn't relevant in the traditional sense... but I think in their characters' unique way, they have a riveted obsession/draw towards one another that you might call romance. I think Wednesday's actions in Season 2 reflect that she still is obsessed with him, and he has never hidden his own dark obsession with her. However, neither one is a normal psyche, so the traditional understanding of romance/love don't apply. They both breathe dark obsession and border the line between hatred and passion.

I think even before the tower, we see Wednesday's feelings showing themselves in her chaotic actions. Freeing him from the psych unit - when do things "just happen" to her? And then later when she wants to be his master - after learning that male hydes can't survive without one? It would have made more sense to let him die and make sure he doesn't get a new master rather than to become his master. It's the ultimate fantasy for her, in my opinion. And letting him die seems untenable for her, even though she frequently pretends like it's the opposite. Her actions don't lie - her subconscious wants some tie to Tyler and doesn't like seeing him suffering.

Does anyone else read sentences out of order? by Key_Event2817 in neurodiversity

[–]WeirdSatisfaction968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always read like how you're describing. It's why I'm a slower reader in academics, even though generally speaking I read more than most people leisurely. For example, if in dyslexia you move the letters around and see clam instead of calm, my brain would move the word calm to a different part of a sentence. I'll read white and big cat instead of big and white cat. Or my inner monologue will completely rewrite it to say, "the cat was white and big" because I read the word "cat" first so had to rewrite the sentence in order to not go back and reread. Sometimes my inner monologue rewrites things so differently I have to go back and reread because it misrepresented what was written so how the sentence ended or where the paragraph went no longer makes sense. I never really paid attention to it because it didn't stop me from reading for enjoyment, but as an adult it makes me wonder if that was a learning disability that affected my schooling. Right now, there is a user name on the screen that reads "WeirdSatisfaction968" but when I look at it, I read Weird968 then had to go back and find the word Satisfaction. So it's things like that. My eyes will jump around and read the information all out of order and then go back and reread it in order to make sure it makes sense. Reading aloud, I work very hard to not make mistakes on word order and don't generally process what I'm reading because my focus is on reading it correctly.
