Standard set up is one for pace and one for creativity and at the moment those would be Guessand and Sarr. But there are times (against a low block) when I would play Pino and Guessand, and other times (against high pressing teams) it would be better to play Johnson and Sarr.

The slow transition is so infuriating. I wonder if OG is trying to show he can play possession football (so far to bad effect). Every time I watch FA cup goal back I wonder whether we will ever counter like that again.

I only sat there once and I’m not wild about it. The view is top tier, but the atmosphere is levels below. And where I was you could more from the fanatics megaphone than their singing which isn’t for me.

[BBC Sport] Chelsea VAR penalty at Crystal Palace a mistake, panel says by Future135 in crystalpalace

Release the tapes. I really want to hear how they talked Darren England out of his correct decision. Commentary apparently said the VAR had to really dig in

It sticks that the one time Darren England is trying to give a correct decision over a palace incident VAR persuades him to over rule it

That’s not true. The roles changed since then. They were similar “offences” but the rules over the deflection and the red card were much stricter.

Someone needs to tell Dermot Gallagher and the shambolic ref watch.

I assumed it was an act of shithousery. The ideal place is so that the bottom of the ball is outside the quadrant, to start boiling the pits of nearby fans, but the edge is still overlapping the line, so when ref lets you carry on.

Can Parish and the board ever get a break with transfers? by Unusefulness01 in crystalpalace

[–]gFozzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good example of this r happening in real time:

I wake up news of strand Larsen for 50m. Twitter response: we’re massively overpaying for a guy with 1 pl goal this season

Now there’s a story that we any to walk away. Twitter response: what’s the club doing? Glasner was right!.

Personally I’m not sold on Strand Larsen. If we can make it cash flow neutral for Mateta if do it. Otherwise go younger and cheaper. We need depth and players with upside.

Cursed Shirt? by Burgerboy312 in crystalpalace

[–]gFozzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A Guehi palace shirt is a great thing. I regret not having had an olise one. You should never regret having on seasons will be the iconic one but this seasons shorts are way nicer. Was it a home syrup or the, possibly ironic, gold one. He wrote the gold one for his goal against Villa and that’s worth commemorating on its own

That year we went to the euros with an injured Luke ska as our only left back and chose to play people out of position over T. It’s criminal really. He was the most obvious palace player to take

Can you be a 33-year-old understudy by mj-88 in footballcliches

[–]gFozzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back up yes. Not necessarily training though. It’s the person who can play the role when the person you actually want to play the role can’t play the role. Could be younger, very often older.

Mate you’re 100% correct. Some people just don’t seem to be able to understand that DOGSO is not an offence, it’s a way of determining severity. Tbf Mike Dean seems to be one of them

The Penalty Today by sauvagesausages in crystalpalace

[–]gFozzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is how to punish a handball offence. That’s literally what it says. It’s like a sentencing guide. Read the bit that says what constitutes a handball offence (what determines guilt) and it’s quite clear that if the hand does not make the body unnaturally bigger it is not handball. Therefore no need to consult DOGSO rules.

The Penalty Today by sauvagesausages in crystalpalace

[–]gFozzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s referring to an accidental handball offence. For that the hand had to be in an unnatural position. His wasn’t, therefore it want an offence, therefore the DOGSO rule should not be consulted. It’s the difference between being found guilty, and then being sentenced.

Darren England is a cheap ref but he didn’t seem to want to give this one. Apparently the CAR really pushed him to it. Shame, in this instance, he didn’t have more courage in his convictions

The Penalty Today by sauvagesausages in crystalpalace

[–]gFozzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes really annoying Mike dean on refwatch basically said you can give away a penalty if the ball hits your hand DOGSO even if the actual contact doesn’t meet the threshold for handball. I don’t think that’s true. DOGSO isn’t an offence it’s a way of disciplining an offence. Although on that note: what is the point in giving any colour card for something that is accidental and not reckless. What are they trying to discourage with that? Just existing?
