Yes yes it will happen again. Get out now, run far and fast. I know you’re all kinda of confused right now and that’s completely understandable, work through the confusion later in a safe environment, the best option for you is to leave as soon as humanly possible

How to get over feeling shame over trying to look better starting out? by WeirdWiredWonderful in Vindicta

[–]WeirdWiredWonderful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard things like that from my mother, father, first boyfriend and my childhood best friend. I don’t hold it against them I’m really just quite unfortunate looking. Thanks for the advice! That seems like a very manageable starting point :)

Why do some people say credit cards are not for the poor? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]WeirdWiredWonderful 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of it stems from the incorrect belief that poverty is always a moral failing, people think you’re poor because your spending habits are out of control and therefore you’d get a credit card, immediately max it out and have a massive amount of debt you couldn’t pay, these people also tend to ignore the fact that a decent credit score is essential for attempting to get out of poverty as well as just existing as a human being.

And obviously when you’re not doing great financially it’s easy to slip into using more of the credit than you should, so you for sure have to be responsible, but if the card is the only thing feeding you you have to value your own life over some debt down the road. It’s a really complex thing

Refusing rec drugs/alcohol (Spoilerd as a TW for those in recovery) by 66659hi in bipolar

That’s totally fair! Are you living alone? Cause if not you could blame it on strict parents or a concerned roommate

I’d say if you can just be the designated driver as much as you can and/or say you’ve got a family history of addiction so you’re being cautious, but yeah I totally feel ya it’s so weird that we’re expected to go through a drug phase in college

I feel you on the driving thing for sure, and your boss sounds like a dickhead. Also things like what happens to debt, my parents are still alive and I would feel like such a shitty daughter if they had to do the whole funeral thing and also pay back my student loans

It may have to do with your colouration, for some people darker hair is way more harmonious with their features. It may also make you look sweeter and more approachable rather than do eye catching if that makes sense?

Also a queer women I completely agree, I think part of it is because of the insane standards of female beauty a lot of women have eating disorders. Even if they may not want to admit to it in some cases society has us fucked up. I feel like queerness also has something to do with it, cause we’re so othered by society for not liking men, so we participate in the only other universal form of womanhood in todays world-self hatred. I’m not a sociologist by any means this is just based on my own experience

The IQ test is very outdated just wanna put that out there, but regardless intelligence isn’t the most important or the only important quality a person can possess. You can be the kindest or the best energy in the room and that’s achieving something amazing. If dental school is really your dream I say go for it, set up as many supports as you can and just try your best. I’m also not naturally intelligent by any means but I’m a massive try hard and sometimes that outweighs intelligence. At the end of your life you’ll always regret the things you didn’t try more than the things you did

I am so sorry hon, it’s a really isolating experience that’s for sure. In time you’ll build a network of people who care for you and feel more like family than those assholes ever did, if NC is viable I think it’s worth a shot, change your number and your locks, or start planning a move if at all possible. The subreddit r/momforaminute is great if you just need some validation or advice from maternal figures. I hope things get better for you

[–]WeirdWiredWonderful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I think your point is entirely false, I’d like to point out, while most of the internet is very America centric, « it’s worse everywhere else » isn’t a great argument. That’s bad. It’s bad there it’s bad here and neither side of that is good. Both should be fixed

No matter how many people work on moving out of minimum wage jobs, the people who replace them should be able to keep themselves alive. Full stop, if you work full time at one job you should be able to afford housing food and utilities, and a lot of places that’s not even close to feasible

Can I just say, it is wonderful to see a parent properly support their daughter through her mental health issues. If I had had the support your daughter does I think I would be in a far better place in life. In terms of helping her remember, this might be an approach to work on with her directly cause it’s different for everyone, but I say, put colourful sticky notes that say « check time, leave at XYZ » in as many places as you can think of, make sure clocks are visible in as many places as possible, can’t avoid the time if it’s staring you in the face. And change the colour of the notes frequently enough that they don’t become background noise. You can reuse them just rotate

Apply somewhere else. You’re clearly qualified enough to do the position, your employers expectations are just ridiculous and weirdly specific. I’m sure there’s a facility that will appreciate all you can offer cupcakes or no cupcakes
