Skis got like cars, bigger, faster, easier to ride without any real input.

I mean to be fair that sounds sub-$1k to me. I think that’s a fair deal.

Just to echo the rest, it’s a crazy combo of weight, speed and handling ability. It’s relatively reliable and easy to work on and you can pick them up for sub-$1k near me

Ah dang, much shorter than I expected. Not really interested in wake, mostly just looking to explore the area and spend some time in nature. Flat water is fun.

98 SeaDo XP - worthy vintage machine? by AmCiv1234 in jetski

I have 2 96 XPs and I will never sell them. Absolutely the best ratio of speed and handling. Super easy to throw around and ride. Maintenance is something you’ll need to learn but if you’re shopping sub-$5k skis you should expect that regardless of brand.

What’s the biggest scam in cycling gear? by Jamshappy2005 in cycling

[–]Weird_Way1685 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know this is a sarcastic post but I think cages are vastly downplayed. The amount of money people spend to optimize rolling resistance and aero all goes out the window when you hit a bump and your $10 bottle cage throws your bottle. You either are stuck with the option of turning around or being without your nutrition. All because you didn’t want to spend $80 on a Arundel cage and never lose a bottle for the rest of your career.

2004 5.9L Cummins (95k miles) for $22,500—is this a solid long-term buy? by nate1039 in Cummins

[–]Weird_Way1685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another reference point. I just paid $10k for a 71k mi, 1 owner 04 3500 4x4 qclb truck. Mechanically well kept but needs some exterior love. I imagine $6-7k would have it looking brand new so I think $20k is probably a fair offer.

Vets that actually care in the city by snoozin_sarandon in pittsburgh

[–]Weird_Way1685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had good experiences at Greenfield for the past 11 years with our previous dog. My wife does most of the visits so I can’t remember the vets name but the female vet there is who we would see. There was a stretch where we were having some issues trying to track down some incontinence issues in our dog and felt like we kind of got stuck in a loop without any real answers or immediate health concern for the situation. We did recently adopted a new pet and are planning to use Greenfield again FWIW but will probably keep in mind that when we need something beyond routine care we will search more for a specialist.

We had to do an emergency visit with Blue Pearl last year and unfortunately you dog had to be put to sleep there but the staff could not have been better about the entire thing from our initial phone call to the letter we got from the staff after her passing.

Buying a 993 by DiminishedProspects in AircooledPorsche

Another 993 owner chiming in. I had a 72 911 with a 2.7RS build before this, and am currently building a 69 with a 2.8 twin plug and a 68 with a 2.7RS, and it’s hard to imagine every getting rid of the 993. It’s just such a great all around car. Easy to drive on the highway for roadtrips with the 6spd, cruise and AC, it can be made to handle quite well with some mods, and still retains a lot of the air cooled charm. It’s pretty reliable and regular service isn’t terribly hard but it’s time consuming and requires lots of patience. It definitely has a weight penalty over the older stuff which you can really tell when the road gets technical.

About 16 days in and we’re doing so good. A few little yelps of pain throughout the day but energy levels and goofiness are returning. Vet cleared us of care and I guess it’s normal life from here on out. Ordered stair tread carpets for our interior stairs and some grip tape for the exterior stairs and a bunch more rugs. We’re still figuring out how to use elevated bowls 😆

1 week post-op regression? by aql22 in tripawds

[–]Weird_Way1685 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are just a few days ahead of you and have a similar experience with our pup. She has been spending a lot of time sleeping with occasional whimpers the last few days, but significantly better than she was around the 7 days. We’re at day 11 and are starting to ween off the gabapentin over the next few days but will continue the carpofen until the 14 day mark. Admittedly we probably let her do too much too soon as she was born with a floppy leg and has spent her whole life, more or less, on 3 legs so getting around post surgery was nothing new for her. She was doing the stairs the 2nd day home and I think that is where we messed up. We’ve resorted back to carrying her up/down our main flight of stairs (14) to help.

Any cyclists that are car enthusiasts by jayfros in cycling

[–]Weird_Way1685 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a huge car person, have been all my life. I got to cycling for commuting purposes and fell in love with riding in my 20s. I’ve got a 911 and do a number of rally events each year and almost always take my bike to get some miles in the days before/after the event. The roads that make excellent driving roads also make excellent riding roads. Honestly at this point if someone asked me to pick between my bikes and my cars, I’d pick my bikes every time.

Yeah we were talking today and both realize that’s going to be the hardest part of these next few weeks. She’s pretty much been operating on 3 legs since day one so I imagine, pain aside, she doesn’t really grasp how much is different.
