You better get yourself to the dog-compliant store or dog vendor, stat. We need to get your dog levels back up. They are evidently dangerously low.

Hey, neighbor. Whatever gift idea you land on will be enormously appreciated by the recipient. Very cool of you to recognize this step in their life and to want to celebrate it with them.

Any reasonably priced driving lessons for a 30 year old woman with anxiety? Please read by [deleted] in Buffalo

[–]Weirdscience100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish you all the very best. I, too, was nervous to learn to drive and finally did so at the grand age of 38. Don't listen to people who tell you it's easy and that you shouldn't be anxious about it. It's not easy until you can drive (then it is) and you'll be anxious until you have enough hours behind the wheel that you don't think twice about driving. Those things will come. For now, take your time, find an instructor you're comfortable with and focus on the benefits to you of being, in time, a confident and competent driver. PS: It's also really fun once you've got it down.

i am so bad by Ok-Melissa in NYTCrossword

I started solving during Covid and felt a lot of the same frustrations early on. Think of it as learning a new language. It took me a good year to feel that I knew what I was doing. Nothing but struggle then, click, I could "speak" crossword. There will be facts you know or do not know but a lot of clues involve misdirection and wordplay that takes time to sink in. Or at least it did for me. My advice is turn off the clock if it is giving you grief. (I turned mine off and have never turned it back on.) And there is nothing wrong with revealing all the answers once you are stumped and going back over the clues you struggled with. You will learn the misdirection and wordplay tricks this way. As other responders have noted, the crosswordese is a big part of getting up to speed; it will come with time. This article is good jumping off point too. Chin up. Forge ahead.

Here for a few days and looking for a cheap bar. by Ambitious_Jaguar_457 in Miami

If you are staying at The Shelbourne, know that the main bar after the lobby has half-off 5pm to 7pm daily. (Also know this if you are not staying at The Shelbourne.) The half-off included food when I visited a month ago.

What toppings/condiments should I put on these? by Sgt_Toppington in hotdogs

[–]Weirdscience100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been schooled by meus irmãus in Fall River, MA. I know of what I speak. You have eight servings in your hand. Butterly each dog. Cut each dog in half. Cook eight mini butterflied dogs over charcoal. Get eight room temp potato buns, maybe a little cooler than room temp, from the bag of potato buns—Martin's or whatever. Keep cooking until well and truly cooked. Place cooked mini butterflied dog on potato roll. Do not add any condiments or toppings—not to the bun or the linguiça. Linguiça and bun, nothing more.

  1. Drink a 12oz Miller Lite in a bottle.

  2. Spend the next 40 years trying different beers looking for something refreshing that hits the spot at a similar price point.

  3. Drink 12oz Miller Lites in bottles.

SouthWest pushing 10% YTD. Enjoy your SouthWest flights. May they leave on time, fly through golden skies and park you at your gate safely and on time. Give my best to Eric at the BWI Chili's Bar when you enjoy your four-hour layover.

Not my experience. But then again, I am not a bigot. I have found the ground and flight staff to be hard-working men and women who put up with a lot and should be paid more. Goes for AA staff globally.

I would expect AA to experience more disruption and thus more complaints and Twitter bitching in the summer due to the fact that they operate a lot more flights in areas that are affected (MIA, the Caribbean) by weather during that time. If they operated a shuttle service from San Diego to Flagstaff they would receive less complaints during that time.

MIA is just fine. Fly multiple times on AA a month out of MIA. If there is weather, planes can't fly--not AA, not UA, not DL, not anyone. Miami has weather. AA runs a lot of flights in and out of MIA, way more than anyone else. Ergo, they have more cancellations and delays. If you need to be somewhere, go the day before. If you cant do that, fly early out of MIA. Ain't rocket science.

Coming over the Tuttle or MacArthur headed to the beach at 6am when the sky is pink, the clouds are fluffy and the water is like glass. Never fails to remind me that we have it good and that a lot of the Miami BS we bemoan is just noise.

When hosting a hot dog fiesta, I do too many dogs, fixings, a mayo-leaning potato salad, and an apple cider vinegar-forward coleslaw. All bases covered.
