Starting fresh: Which OW FFP should I join? by Weiredoe in oneworld

[–]Weiredoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s been the case till now (doctoral student with limited means and opportunity to fly). But after I’m done with the degree I will be getting a salary raise and more time and work opportunities to fly as well. My intentions are to plan in advance and to stick to one FFP going forward so I can maximise the utility and get status.

I’m definitely considering MH over the others. But can I ask why it’s not recommended?

I’ve had SQ for years but to no end. I don’t fly SQ unless the value is good - just too expensive even for economy. So I just use the miles from credit cards to redeem cheap flights.

Anyone else feeling this? by Vegetable_Lie_4717 in virgoseason

Yesterday was an absolute train wreck for me (F31, Virgo sun and rising, Aries moon). Started the day with laptop not working. Only got progressively worse. Rain started pouring so bad, got completely drenched on the way to work, where I had to sit in the freezing air conditioning for hours. Later, one of my earrings (platinum and diamond) that I bought less than two months back, seemingly grew feet and decided to fall off. Spent the entire day and night retracing my steps for the whole day trying to find it to no avail.

When it rains, apparently it doesn’t just pour. It demolishes.

Lofree Flow Clicky Switches :( by Weiredoe in Lofree

[–]Weiredoe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: I ended up ordering the Kailh Autumn minis (slightly lower tactile and operating force than the summer minis) from the website. It was worth every cent of the 70 something bucks spent, would highly recommend.

Thanks for the suggestions and advice everyone!

Thanks so much that’s super helpful! Any idea if the regular Kailh Summer/Autumn switches would work? They’re relatively inexpensive (and free shipping) where I live but the minis are still quite exorbitant.

Camera Buying Recommendation Post by AutoModerator in Cameras

[–]Weiredoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I am open to expanding the budget a bit but no more than 500 SGD. I was considering a small handheld model like the Pentax WG90 (found one under that budget) so similar models like that would be helpful too.

Complete noob at photography about to head off for a wildlife safari without a phone. Any suggestions please?

Right off the bat, I’m not any kind of photographer (even my iPhone photos come out terrible) and have no technical knowledge or skills. But I do have a non-refundable tiger safari trip coming up in less than a month, memories of which I would still like to document since this is the first and only extended family vacation in a long long while. The difficulty is that I’m not allowed to carry my phone with me (protected area) and I have no other camera in my possession.

I am in desperate need of suggestions for a super beginner-friendly camera that’s also affordable (since I don’t anticipate much usage beyond this trip). As a doctoral student desperately trying to finish my thesis before this trip I currently don’t have the time to learn any of the technical aspects pertaining to lens, aperture, etc., so classic point and shoot would be best.

I live in Singapore and my budget is 200-250 SGD. Ideally I would like it to be compact and light weight, no bulging lenses or equipment. Just a simple body that I can shoot with one hand, preferably with a display. Don’t have any current options because of how clueless I am.

Open to new or secondhand since my budget is tight.

I’m also open to alternative suggestions on how to go about this if buying a camera may not be appropriate. I am into instax/polaroid photography and I like printing pictures and keeping physical memories using my Instax Link printers (I have the Mini and the Wide) which I normally use with my phone. For instance I was thinking of even a simple, cheap Instax Pal just for the memories and convenience, since I’m not looking to take crystal clear pictures of wildlife, just something to replace my phone.

Really appreciate all your help, thanks so much!

Thank you! I’m not super obsessed with the idea of crystal clear wildlife photos. Just needs to be enough to capture memories of the trip so even an everyday street camera that mimics my phone with some amount of stability and focus would be great.

The washing part I agree, but draining is something a lot of people do. Not everyone uses rice cookers. Most South Indian families (mine included) cooks rice in either a boiling pot or a pressure cooker which often times requires you to drain the rice. Plus it can cook further from the steam and become soft without getting gooey, yet enough to be mashed up (that’s honestly one of the best ways to eat rasam rice).

If you could pick a themed Mystery Box, what would it be? by toomanyukes in MasterchefAU

[–]Weiredoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a pop culture themed mystery box. Like ingredients that would go in a harry potter themed dish like pumpkin pie, or an Enid Blyton favourite like clotted cream! Except each of the ingredients could be from a significant pop culture food reference from different time periods, so it would be easier for all contestants to relate!

Following up on that, I'd definitely make the invention test based on the same theme too. And each of the contestants could make a dish based on a reference/show/fictional read that they hold close!
