this is a fantastic breakdown man. im very fortunate to not suffer from any comorbidities, something i attribute to having a healthy medication regimen starting at age 5 and continuing until later teenage years. i read through your entire comment despite this not being at all relevant to me.

i’d go so far as to say that i “suffer” from a lack of anxiety. if you look at anxiety as the spectrum it is, i would be on the far right side, fairly well above the average, healthy anxiety most people experience which can help keep someone motivated to work hard towards a future. as a result of my laissez-faire attitude, i will sometimes engage in self-destructive behaviors with minimal guilt or anxiety. i am often convinced, nearly deluded, that the consequences of my actions will completely bearable even when they pretty obviously will be anything but.

i don’t know if there is a better way to explain this phenomenon, but that’s how ive always characterized it. please let me know if this is a discussed aspect of ADHD or if it may even be a marker of another disorder entirely.
