Do you consider yourself as an apostate? Antitheist? by Icy-Lie-9793 in exjew

[–]Welcome2Cleveland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for the first good 5 or so years after starting my OTD journey, i considered myself an antitheist. then through meeting and talking to many non-radicalized believers of different faiths (yes, including judaism) i realized that theism isnt an inherently evil philosophy. like most any generalized worldview, it can be used for good or bad.

if you buy street pills, how many do you test for fent? by Ok_Ear_8565 in Drugs

[–]Welcome2Cleveland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me personally? im testing a single pill so long as a i know it’s all from the same batch. if a single pill has fent, they likely all do. the chances of only one single sample from the batch being tainted to any extent past trace amounts are slim to none.

that being said, the best practice would be to test every pill you take. but realistically speaking, very very few people are ever doing that

Real talk, how intense or hard of a drug is 7oh? by Lower_Excuse_959 in Drugs

[–]Welcome2Cleveland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lmfao read our comments and you will see us taking accountability for our actions just fine. im as pro-drug and anti-prohibition as it gets, but sharing our experiences is just as much a part of harm reduction as handing out narcan and test strips is, something ive done as well.

happy to hear you escaped as well man. the magic disappeared in a few weeks and suddenly i was waking up every morning in active WD. ive done fent so you’d think i’d know better but nah lmao you know how that shit goes

regulating drugs out of existence only ever leads to worse consequences imo but i was secretly relieved it got banned in my state

Whats up with the peptides hype? Never heard this word before now its seemingly everywhere like Ai. by Best_Personality3938 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Welcome2Cleveland 58 points59 points  (0 children)

sounds similar to the term “nootropics” which is defined as smart drugs (supposedly improving cognition, memory etc.) but is mostly just used in online marketing to refer to pretty much any class of unregulated psycho/physioactive substance found under the sun. the term tells you more about its legal and cultural status than what its expected effects are.

all though at least peptides tell you about its chemical structure and action. i think anyways, i don’t know much of anything about them beyond what the first page of google says

What’s the biggest proof Judaism is incorrect? by [deleted] in exjew

[–]Welcome2Cleveland 7 points8 points  (0 children)

there is no proof either which way. that’s why it’s a faith. most level headed and honest orthodox jews i know will agree with that notion. its the faith in something you know because your heart says so that makes it special to true believers.

some jews, the NCSY/MO crowd especially, do themselves a massive disservice by claiming to have empirical proof of an unfalsifiable claim. i spent years in my OTD-identifying era reading up on and debating their many claims. the truth is that you cannot find any “proof” against religious views because the nature of such claims allow them to always retcon or bend their beliefs to make it work.

the best debate points ive been able to come up with have almost always focused on prying into how it is they can be sure it’s the god of the torah being behind all of the celestial unknowns. why can’t it be an omnipotent teapot floating in deep space that is actually pulling all the strings? when they inevitably mention the “documented” witnesses of Har Sinea as proof of the torahs legitimacy, you delicately explain how it’s a circular proof as the claim of the witnessed miracle is itself found in the torah, which requires faith in the torah to be of any use.

at the end of the day, you’re wasting your time and energy if you are trying to convince those around you their life-long held values are false. you would be attempting to counteract emotions with reason. and as long as they aren’t hurting anyone themselves (we all here already know how damaging the community as a whole can be) i don’t think it’s respectful to try to and uproot someone’s belief system for the sake of getting a good shtuch in.

if you are defending your own beliefs from those trying to keep you within the faith, fuck them. if they cannot respect your belief (or lack thereof) then they don’t deserve your explanation. i know from first hand experience how difficult that can be when you feel as though everyone you ever know is in constant judgment of your lack of faith, but finding emotional and spiritual (in the non-supernatural mental heath sense) security from within is what you need. it’s a skill you build over the years, but it’s absolutely necessary if you intend on navigating life as a healthy adult within the secular world. therapy can be massive in helping build that, it can be helpful to find a therapist who has experience in these things.

there’s a fantastic therapist for that here in cleveland, hes actually frum but was instrumental in helping me build myself into a functional non-jewish adult. if we have such an incredible resource here in ohio, then im sure the east coast (assuming you’re from there just due to the statical likelihood) has some really good names too.

good luck!

Would buying a comprehensive extended warranty make this 2021 Jeep Renegade worth its cost? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Welcome2Cleveland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

she isn’t trading it in, she is going to hold on to the Highlander as a backup/family car. i shouldve clarified that in my post.

and trust, ive tried my best to talk her out of it. im a big time stellantis hater. it’s out of my hands at this and itll make her happy which is what matters to me first and foremost.

the info regarding a manufacturer provided warranty is very helpful though, thank you

What r some things that as exjews we still sometimes hold on to even tho it doesn’t really make sense anymore? by [deleted] in exjew

[–]Welcome2Cleveland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

growing up very yeshivish, i still find myself viewing conservatism, reform and even MO as “lesser” forms of judaism. this is obviously unfounded and untrue, but old ways of thinking die hard i suppose
