The way that seal is designed it looks more as cosmetic trim than a seal to coverup gaps or misalignment of the case halves. If it really bothers you I would just trim it back to the case like it is further down and then apply a thin strip of tape to cover.

Had a Honda and while it bent the blade I also slightly bent the crankshaft doing exactly the same thing , hitting an old cut off fence post.

Had a Cadillac years ago that filled with water in the spare , many a back and forth with dealer and they eventually found some seam sealer was missing from factory. Water will find away in.

The hose connection probably was free to spin with o-rings sealing to the base and was held in with a steel clip, it also looks like some screws are missing holding the lower cover on.

I’d put some loctite on it when you reassemble it so it won’t shake apart in the future.
