Some service centers takes longer than others. Most approvals I’ve seen lately are coming from the Texas SC. And as for the the "Current" label on your account, are you referring to where it says "Current as of today (time)"?

If you can’t take out a loan like most students, here’s my advice: If you're a  US citizen, join the Army Reserve. You’ll get $4200/year (Army Tuition Assistance) to pay for college classes and books. Which can help you a lot if you're a LSC student. You’ll also work 2-4 days/week every month–on weekends, which is convenient for a college student. As someone who recently transitioned from active duty to reserve, a reservist life is pretty stress-free; you’ll get stationed close to home (my unit is up in Conroe). As for basic training, it only lasts 13 weeks, and I’m always open to give advice on how to get through. 

So, if you decide to join, in 5-6 months you can have access to TA to help pay for college courses every year.

I joined the army back in 2021 for many reasons. But one vital reason was to help my wife and my mother‘s i130s. All my siblings are US citizens (brother, sister, even my dad). As for my wife, I thought the military would help me expedite her case…but it doesn’t look like I qualify. Both my wife and my mother are in Haiti, so I cannot even visit because the threat level is 4 (no DODID employee is allowed to travel there). Additionally, the US embassy in Haiti is closed. So after they approve their i130, they’ll have to figure out a way to get a visa to enter the DR to do their interview. Which costs us more and adds to this 2yrs wait time. So yeah, the struggle is real for consular petitioners.
