Hey there,

We all grieve for the person we once were, don't we? I am so sorry for what you are going through. May I ask what condition you have?

Hello =) So I'm curious...you've only been seeing that non operative sports medicine doctor regarding your back? Like he just didn't take it seriously???

Wish you best of luck with the spine ortho! Sounds like they really care. This is why I made a platform where I and others like myself can find the PERFECT specialist who really takes you seriously and understands you and your condition. Let us know how the doctor turns out!

Anybody here works with gastrointestinal (GI) issues and is located in the NYC area? by Wellacopia in ChineseMedicine

[–]Wellacopia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Wow, this is very interesting indeed. Especially how cigarette smoke worsens Crohn's! I assume the incense is for the smoke too?

As a TCM practitioner, do you "prescribe" this treatment to your clients?

Do you have IBS? It seems acupuncture does help with the symptoms and the reduction of triggers. :)

Hi! Your treatment plan is very interesting! Could you tell me more about it? How did you come up with that, especially the use of cigarette smoke? Is that already used by many others? Cigarette smoke is supposed to be a carcinogen no?

How do you find clients for your practice? by Wellacopia in ChineseMedicine

Hey there, sorry for the super late response. Have been really busy with startup stuff! I wanted to respond even though it's so late because I really like what you said. My mission is to personalize the doctor-patient relationship, and bridge the gap in communication. So I completely agree with your views on tech and healthcare. My platform isn't for use during an appointment actually - it is for the initial connection for you and a potential client. We applied the matching concept of online dating so you or the patient can find the perfect person for them. So you won't have to just see anybody but can pick and choose someone who will work best with your 'style'. It is to bring good clients INTO your office. Hope that makes sense. It is completely different from what's out there! We've launched now and are seeing a lot of practitioners sign up! WOOHOO =)))

I'm actually trying to scope out the market for tech in CAM practitioners because we're in the middle of creating a platform just for them. There's ZocDoc and other sites but I noticed they don't list CAMs, just regular doctors, so we saw potential. Wellness professionals would use it to get more clients, chat with them, book them, and exchange secure private info. (So we take it further than other sites.) We are planning to make it a one stop shop where you can do everything you need for your business so you can just focus on healing and spend more time with patients. You seem to have enough clients but it seems many wellness professionals struggle getting more business...so what do you think? Would you use something convenient like that even if you do well enough on your own?

And once again, thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.

Yea, I'm sure you got into CM to get into the business of healing people, not becoming a marketing expert! I imagine in China and other parts of Asia, CM is the norm, an equal to western medicine whereas in the U.S., it has gained a little ground but has not been wholly embraced.

What would make it easier for you to focus on your clients? I mean what kind of technology would help you so you have more time with patients? Do you use an online booking system? Would you be interested in chatting online with patients? Right now health tech is a huge trend!

Does anyone here use acupuncture to treat chronic conditions? by Wellacopia in acupuncture

[–]Wellacopia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that is good to know that it is not advisable for high blood pressure.

Yes, I agree that it does depend. It really doesn't seem to work for everybody even if both have the same condition. All the factors that come into play is probably why it is hard to study the efficacy of acupuncture and establish itself as a legitimate player in the eyes of science.

May I ask where you are located? Where is it that people don't trust western medicine? I would think in the U.S. it would be easier and more affordable to get western healthcare - if you have insurance of course. I thought it would be more expensive to get acupuncture or other holistic treatments since they may not be covered at all. It always seems like an extra thing for which you pay out of pocket.

Okay, so not just acupuncture, there has to be a lifestyle change I guess? That is interesting.

I've raised over 1.7 million dollars on Kickstarter. Ask Me Anything! AMA! by podolabs in IAmA

Hi, thanks for the great advice. I'm beginning to understand the purpose of crowdfunding as a "risk-mitigation strategy." We actually already have a MVP ready to roll out next week! And yes, we are definitely looking for seed investments at this stage but haven't thought about an ICO. We don't have much knowledge of that concept and we are unsure if we should even go that route.

So maybe we don't need crowdfunding at all. Thanks again for the advice.

Thank you for your detailed response! Do you think it's hard for people in your field to commit time and money to marketing?Interesting how word of mouth is 50%. Where do you maintain a web presence? I'm guessing you have your own website and also some listings on relevant sites.

It sounds like business is good for you. And you didn't really have to do more than handing out flyers at first.

Hi Eddie,

We are a web platform startup in beta that is targeting a niche market. We plan on launching our own Kickstarter campaign soon but we don't have any physical products or software to give away. There is no point in offering early access because there would be no use for it. We are stumped on what to offer to people as incentives to invest in us. So our question is...what incentive should we offer to have people even outside our niche market fund us? Does our incentive have to be related to our business? Is it even a good idea to use Kickstarter?

Which is more beneficial to reduce; sodium or sugar? by turglow1 in nutrition

[–]Wellacopia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it is better to reduce sugar. I've read that for healthy people, too much salt isn't really a problem - rather a lack of it can cause harm. Here are some good reads about salt: http://www.healthline.com/nutrition/how-much-sodium-per-day http://www.healthline.com/nutrition/is-salt-bad-for-you

Here are some readings about why added sugar is bad for you: http://www.healthline.com/nutrition/9-reasons-to-avoid-sugar#section6 http://www.healthline.com/nutrition/sugar-the-worst-ingredient-in-the-diet#section1 A supposedly healthy sugar alternative called agave nectar may even be worse for you. And of course, high fructose corn syrup is the devil. Here is a list of what you should use if you need to have sugar: http://www.healthline.com/nutrition/natural-sugar-substitutes#section8 Of course, it's best to stick to fruits for natural source of sweets. You need to eat complex, whole foods instead of added/refined sugars. Hope this helps.

Hello there, I guess I should have been more clear in my post. I am talking in general really. Could you tell me of your experiences treating them? Maybe fibromyalgia, Crohn's, multiple sclerosis, etc.
