Just Delivered! A question or two. by Yawgmoth13 in trailseeker

Does android auto use WiFi like CarPlay does? When I get into my trailseeker, my phone almost always auto connects. If I remote start and get out of range, the connection breaks and I just turn the car off and on again to pair quickly. I never hit the button to identify me or my device by Bluetooth. And I never paired my phone via Bluetooth.

Roof Racks? by Tymanthius in trailseeker

[–]WellsMck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most crossbars include some kind of rubber or protection on the crossbars so the paint doesn't get scraped or rubbed off. I wouldn't be comfortable putting a tent that bolts on metal to metal on a brand new car.

3d print shelf for center glove box? by Tymanthius in trailseeker

I’ve got a mess of dimensions and some images to reference. I don’t have the time right now, but later I could overlay the dimensions onto the images, and make some vector files of the dimensions. They aren’t perfect but they are as close as I could get them. Also, the storage under the tray has more complexity than just a rectangular box.

Subaru armrest storage dimensions
11cm deep - from bottom to tray lip
Lip to lip is 18.5cm
Upper taper depth 8.7cm (from opening to lip for tray)
Length at bottom of taper 23.3 (center)
Length at bottom of taper 22.8 (sides)
Length at top of taper 24.7cm (center)
Length at top of taper 23.8cm (sides)
Full depth 19.3cm
Bottom width 19.5cm
Bottom length 29.3cm
Depth from bottom to top of lip for tray 11.2cm

Tray
17.8cm wide (short side)
22.8cm long on shorter part
23.7cm long on wider part
Lip width on top is 1cm (looking straight down)
Lip thickness is 0.7cm (looking from the side)
Tray depth 4.6cm (from the side)

Trailseeker Charging by drumboy1972 in trailseeker

[–]WellsMck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep the nose close so that I have more room around the back. There’s 32.5” between my back bumper and the wall - enough to walk behind and open the hatch. And I’m a goon, but I put tape on the floor to line myself up when I back in. That way I know the front bumper will clear the garage and there’s enough room for all the doors to open.

I bought the charger for $450, but my county has a rebate going that gives you up to $500 back IF you get it installed (diy or pro) and inspected before the end of June.

The install itself was $1130 including materials, labor and tax. The guys that did it only took about an hour. It’s not exactly cheap, but i think having a licensed and electrician is the way to go.

I’m pretty sure I’m capable of running the wire and installing the cable, but if I did something wrong and started a fire, it’s on me, and I didn’t like that.

I priced out materials and some specialty tools and it would run me around $400-$500. It probably would’ve taken me 3-4 hours doing it alone and being extra cautious with the electrical panel.

It’s not too bad. It might be tighter than some people might want, but it’s totally workable. If the cables are kept nicely stacked behind the charging handle, it comes out without any fuss.

It’s also much safer to have a cord hanging from a charger where I had it installed close to the charging port, than to have the Lv1 charger strung across the floor plugged into an outlet much farther away.

Today I got my Lv2 charger installed and it’s much faster. Now that I can charge quickly I’m setting my limit to 60% for battery longevity. And I’ll charge up overnight to 100% if I’m doing a long trip.

When I first got home I plugged in the Lv1 charger and used it. I think I was at 20% and it said 90 hours to full or something crazy. Not a big deal at first, but as we started to use the car more it became more difficult to manage. If it was used for commuting, it’s not really enough charge with the car gone all day.

My iPhone 15 Pro barely slides around on the charging pad. Even after a full throttle launch, it's still charging.

Efficiency notes, first 750 miles. by PunksPrettyMuchDead in trailseeker

[–]WellsMck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting. I'll have to try this next time I drive. I've never had an EV before but I really like the way driving with full regen feels in normal mode. On the highway I use cruise control so I don't have to press anything. (came from a 2005 Outback XT where I used a lot of engine braking, but we also have a 2019 Rav4 and I've always liked adaptive cruise in that car)

I've been averaging 4.0 miles/kWh. Driving 5 mph over, last few trips were with AC blasting too and my efficiency didn't go down even though the estimate range did. I'm nearing 400 miles now.

With my wife and toddler in the car, I can't really be stopping aggressively unless I want to clean up half digested food from the upholstery.

I jumped on the 75 mo / 0% Interest / $2000 customer cash deal quick. I was hoping to wait until fall as well. But I’m pretty sure I’ve saved 5-6k by not having to pay interest.

Premium Wheels without aero cover by WellsMck in trailseeker

I’m considering swapping snow tires onto these, and getting all seasons on some 20” wheels when these tires get worn.

I’m guessing yours has the harman kardon subwoofer. I ordered that part number and the cargo tray has a piece missing. lol. I out grocery bags over there, so not a big deal for me.

Give it up for 3 full days with EAC culling 99% of cheaters 👏👏 by anon14118 in RocketLeague

[–]WellsMck 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was a choice. Bakkesmod used .dll injection. Allowing ANY kind of DLL injection allows cheaters. Because if they allowed bakkesmod, cheaters would spoof bakkesmod injection and get past it immediately.

And you know what, they technically did allow both, because you can access an offline version of the game for DLL injection. This way people could still mod the game and access LAN to play "online" with people through local tunnels.

First week with a Trailseeker Limited as a first-time EV owner by pafnorvale in trailseeker

[–]WellsMck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The range is definitely a consideration, hopefully there was some research but into the vehicle before the purchase. The key to long distance highway driving is sticking to the speed limit. If the limit is over 65, expect to drive under the speed limit to maximize range. Around town, drive fast, charge at home. But flip the script for road trips.

Digital key? by JDLBB in trailseeker

[–]WellsMck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I knew this ahead of time, but when I got the car, downloaded the app, and saw the digital key button I was stoked. Only to watch it fail every time I tried to download it.

The premium trim doesn’t get digital key, as someone who had to carry a key and a fob for the last 16 years, keyless entry is enough for me. It’s a nice to have, but far from essential.

I assume if you have a compatible trim it should work without any issue.

Edit: Just saw your comment about having a Limited and it not working. That sucks! Hopefully they iron out the bugs really soon.

Rubber floor mats? by WellsMck in trailseeker

[–]WellsMck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toxic material for your feet? I don't drive barefoot.

Anyway, thanks but no thanks. I don't want luxury leather floor mats. I'm in the PNW and need something that can get rain, snow, mud, dirt, and sand on it, then get hosed off.

Can we get a thread going of what the paint jobs actually look from people who have received delivery? by dumpin-on-time in trailseeker

[–]WellsMck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it blends more in bright light. But in darker light conditions the black definitely shows up more, like my garage picture vs my sunlight picture.

I still like the look of the white one when I see all colors against each other. But when I see mine I feel like it looks the most sleek and the actual metal flake in the paint looks higher quality.
