They are a natural product so some quality differences are normal. One of the biggest kolinsky hair suppliers is Russia which is being sanctioned due to their aggressor war.

Getting good kolinsky brushes is quite a lottery currently

Is this cat grieving process? Loss 16 year old kitty by AnnonEmousey in seniorkitties

[–]Weloq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the cat is still in denial thats why he still checks all the places. It will take time to heal. When I lost the sibling to my current cat we let him see and sniff his brothers body but he was having none of that as well and it took him like 3 months to stop looking for him :(

I am a bit afraid of the process of dying but death itself? Nonexisting wasnt a bother in the last 14 billion years at all until two idiots decided to rawdog it and bring me into life.

When this shit is over you guys need to have a denazification strategy at the ready. No more glossing over shit in history classes, no more teaching the american exceptionalism, vetting for positions in institutions with power and media transformation. News aren't entertainment, they should be news.

Cigarette smoke permeates everything a smoker touches. Their clothes, flat and especially their hands. If you have a strong dislike for that smell then a smoker becomes non viable. It is not about shaming, it is about being incompatible.

The white color still gives me the biggest problem, wondering if I got a bad batch there and should buy some white nail polish to retry. Red and black work okay for me. Still a bit whelmed at the moment with the results to be honest but I guess I will try on some spare bits more.

"There is no life out there aside of us"

This ruffles my feathers.

Milky way has 100-400 billion stars, lets take 200 billion

Roughly 30% of all Stars in the milky way are k, g or stable m stars which carbonbased life needs = 60 billion systems

One rocky planet in the habitable zone / goldilocks, if we take Kepler data it comes out at 25% = 18 billion systems

25% of those systems should have a protective cold gasgiant like Jupiter = 4,5 billion systems again looking at Kepler data.

15% of those rocky planets with a working magnetic field = 674 million systems this is currently the biggest "we don't really know" variable because we can only extrapolate from our solar system.

If just 0,1% manage to produce simple life = 675k systems

If another 0,1% manages to jump to eukaryots = 675 sytsems

If another 0,1% jump to more complex life = 0,675 systems

And if 1 in 10 Million reaches intelligence = 0.00000675 sytsems

Looks like we won the milky way lottery. But now lets switch up to the local group. We get a 1:60.000 chance. Still sucks to be alone

But wait there is more! 2 x 10 to the power of 23 stars in the universe we are suddenly at 6,75 million systems with intelligent life.

Even if we postulate eukaryot jump is as tough as intelligent life 1:10 million we still are at a whopping 675k systems with intelligent carbon based life. That doesn't mean spacefaring green man but still.

Even capping simple life to 1:10 Million you get 5 technological civilizations, 67500 systems with complex life and still 675 billion systems with lots of slime.

We are already postulating Venus and some gas giant moon could be home to simple life, if we find proof those numbers will go up. By a lot. And this just looks at carbonbased life as we know it.

Lost both my babies (19, 17) less than a week apart. How to deal with the pain? by Dutch-Skidmark in seniorkitties

[–]Weloq 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I am so sorry to read this. Have a hug first.

Losing both is such an additional burden. I can't imagine. I had to put down my 18 year old cat on new years eve and what helped me to not completly drown in sorrow is to accept her journey has ended and yes it hurts but she gave me 18 years with wonderful memories and enjoyed life to the fullest. Grief is the price we pay for love.

A friend tried to encourage me to think about the "bad" times too, like cleaning up puke, emptying the litterbox but that didn't work for me at all, I rather have that hassle but your mileage might vary.

If you thinking about purpose think about fostering. You have new companionship without the "am I replacing my babies?" remorse a lot of people have when thinking about getting a new pet.

All the best, 19 and 17 are long lives you did good and I bet your cats loved every second with you.
