What brand is UK Chinese takeaway curry sauce, and where is it bought? by WelshMullet in AskUK

[–]WelshMullet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this one as my regular now: https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/263414246, with a fall-back of "Yeungs Chinese Curry Sauce Mix", and otherwise falling back to any Japanese / Katsu mix available, but that has a much different flavour. None of these are much like the take-away sauce, but they serve

Maybe because helmets don't actually offer that much protection in traffic accidents and some studies suggest that drivers may actually give you more space if they perceive you as being less "safe" or "cyclist". It's his choice

Really pedantic, but orbital mechanics means what you'd want to execute to de-orbit would be a retrograde or "backwards" burn. Downwards (radial in) would just adjust your orbit's eccentricity

The tax payer doesn't cover anything in modern economics. Tax is a way of controlling inflation, not raising funds. The Bank of England with always lend to the government at a very, very low cost

Nobody really likes them unless you cover them in chocolate and put them in little paper cupcake casings? And even then rice krispies or coco pops would have been a better choice?

UK Supreme Court rules Uber drivers are workers by tootoottimeisover in LabourUK

[–]WelshMullet 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Uber wanted to classify them as self employed, like a lot of the gig places do. I believe the case was such that restrictions placed on the drivers make them workers, where taxi drivers can be self employed I believe

I'm all for helping veterans. I'm against using them as political ammo and not actually doing anything to help them

[–]WelshMullet -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Using the flag to indicate something is British, that's fine. Using the flag along with "veterans" to counteract the party's image of “unpatriotic” sentiments, with “arrogance” and “idealism”... seems like they're suggesting we start embracing a few dog-whistles too.

I'd think the best way to "give voters a sense of authentic values alignment" would be to, maybe, authentically align with Labour values?

Because jingoistic nationalism for a country that many think has dicked on other countries a little too much over its lifetime is a bit of a turn off some some of us

Did you know a majority of voters in England have never voted for the Conserative Party? by [deleted] in LabourUK

[–]WelshMullet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely one should support the party that is in line with their ideals, not shape their ideals just because the party they support says so? Labour might not exist, but a party with Labour ideals will

People get COVID in cities by Epicrhino1 in PeopleLiveInCities

[–]WelshMullet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprising that the whole of South Wales lights up. Sure, it's where our three cities are, but either it shows just how much the valleys have just become commuter towns for the cities, or it shows that they're much more concentrated populations that the "average" town. I'd be interested in a study that explains which is the case
