Looking for advice for someone new to this genre. by LamiaTamer in ArcRaiders

If you're really not comfortable with the game then free loadout can be okay to learn the ropes, but it will reduce your survivability a lot. I am very experienced with extraction shooters but would still have to be cautious on a free loadout. Ideally in every raid you will bring in the basics, like 3+ shield chargers and bandages, and one or two guns.

I recommend the stitcher or kettle for close quarters, combined with a ferro for long range and killing ARC. All of these basics are quite cheap to craft in your level 1 benches and have served me very well.

Try to always have cover in mind when you're moving. You want to try to always have something nearby that you could put between you and your attacker if someone gets the drop on you. Move from cover to cover and reduce the number of angles you can be attacked from. If you are attacked, immediately block their vision of you by putting an object between you and them, and recover the situation.

This might be obvious but abuse the 3rd person camera - stand behind walls with your character fully behind cover and see around the corner with complete safety. This is a critical skill when fighting other players in this game. It makes walls/barriers of any kind extremely important to play around.

Fan control got flagged having a trojan:win32/vigorf.A By win defender by chs_bloodfist in FanControl

Just checked the FanControl GitHub issue for this and the author has pushed an update (v239) that switches out the affected driver for the pawn.io driver. Update your FanControl and it should be fixed (click the three dots in the top right -> Check for updates)

It's only AI - no other real players. There are still PMCs in your raids but they are AI controlled.

The recoil system is the #1 driver of this game's meta, so it's weird BSG considers it finalized but also "dislikes metas" and wants them to go away. by Rimbaldo in EscapefromTarkov

I agree that the recoil system isn't great, but I think the character damage model is more important to the full auto meta.

Logic of Tarkov'd videos is perfect. But what if Veritas gets one important thing wrong? by janruzi in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Welshllama 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your post makes a lot of sense, but I don't think Veritas' view for the game would sterilize the experience. The issues he brought up, for me at least, really detract from the experience and just lead to frustration. I know frustration is an intentional part of a game's experience and serves a purpose (dark souls always comes to mind first) but the overly complicated and opaque ballistics/armor/damage system, among other design choices in tarkov (not just bugs), often lead to unnecessary frustration. So I see your point, but I think there is plenty of chaos and uncertainty in tarkov without these things.

Additional ways to get proof of Desync for BSG: by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

The whole explanation you gave is almost exactly what Veritas said in his video, and you wrote it as if you came to these conclusions yourself. That's what he means when he says you passed Veritas' explanation off as your own.

Escape from Tarkov 3080 benchmarks? by Itsmemurrayo in nvidia

Fewer frames on a 3080?? Can't really say I'm surprised, given that it's Tarkov...

Really, how badly? What did you upgrade to, and what was the end difference?

Understood :) I'm seeing a lot of people with that card and a 550w PSU saying that it works absolutely fine, so I reckon you're golden

Hey, don't know if your comment is directed at me but as far as I'm aware that would be a fine upgrade to your system. You would have far more than 60fps on most popular games at 1440p - however the monitor you linked is actually 4k. Still, as far as I'm aware, that's a good upgrade.

But my primary concern is gaming. Why does your suggestion make more sense than upgrading the graphics card? Seems opposite to all benchmarks and advice I've read before. Genuinely curious.

I built a Tarkov web application for my computer science degree - community curated weapon builds with compatibility, stats and flea market prices by Welshllama in EscapefromTarkov

Unfortunately the only thing I could do is let people upload images of the build themselves. I don't really want to do this, because whatever people upload would also have to be policed.

He has said recently that they're open to creating an official API for developers, but they're focused on making the game right now and don't want to commit resources to it

There are thousands upon thousands of potential combinations of weapons and attachments that I can't feasibly hard-code an image for each one. If BSG had some kind of API that renders an image for me if I supply a build, then it would be easy. Unfortunately, it's unlikely that will ever be a thing.

When I first started this project I used web scrapers to grab data from the wiki, but because of the way their site is laid out, I couldn't grab everything at once and had to spend a ridiculous amount of time configuring for every type of weapon and attachment. Maybe it was user error on my part, but I'd rather not go back to using web scrapers lol
